  • Filed:
    Dec 16, 1996
  • Appl. No.:
    08/768091
  • Inventors:
Frank Chvojcsek - West Dundee IL
Van E. Sun - Palo Alto CA
  • Assignee:
Stenograph Corporation - Mount Prospect IL
  • International Classification:
    B41J 33382
  • US Classification:
    400235, 400194, 400208
  • Abstract:
A disposable ink ribbon cartridge for use in a shorthand machine. The cartridge includes an endless loop ribbon threaded through an advancing mechanism in contact with a movable ink reservoir. The advancing mechanism advances the ribbon and also transfers ink from the ink reservoir to the ribbon. The ink reservoir is made from a reticulated foam which provides an even supply of ink over a long period of time. The movable ink reservoir and the advancing mechanism interact to minimize friction between the moving parts of the cartridge. The ink reservoir and advancing mechanism deliver consistent and even doses of ink to the ribbon throughout the life of the cartridge.

  • US Patent:
    7403375, Jul 22, 2008
  • Filed:
    May 27, 2005
  • Appl. No.:
    11/140155
  • Inventors:
Frank John Chvojcsek - West Dundee IL, US
Dennis John Kras - Des Plaines IL, US
  • Assignee:
Stenograph L.L.C. - Mount Prospect IL
  • International Classification:
    H05K 5/00
    G06F 3/02
    B41J 3/26
    H04N 1/024
  • US Classification:
    361681, 345169, 400 94, 178 21
  • Abstract:
The adjustable LCD screen assembly for a writing machine includes base and an LCD screen assembly coupled to each other by a hinge assembly. An embodiment of the hinge assembly includes a pivot post and a pair locking set screws, Bellville spring washers, a screw, an anti-rotation washer, a first bracket and a second bracket. The hinge assembly mounts to the base along the first bracket and to the LCD screen assembly along the second bracket. The hinge assembly utilizes a compression mechanism including a spring mechanism to generate frictional force between the elements of the hinge assembly to hold the LCD screen assembly in place with respect to the base under “static conditions,” yet allows for infinite adjustability of the LCD screen assembly, within a given range of motion, under “pivoting conditions. ”.
  • Method And Apparatus For Measuring Keystroke

  • US Patent:
    20110025606, Feb 3, 2011
  • Filed:
    Apr 20, 2010
  • Appl. No.:
    12/763525
  • Inventors:
Frank J. Chvojcsek - West Dundee IL, US
Keith A. McCready - Chicago IL, US
David J. Mueller - Naperville IL, US
  • Assignee:
    STENOGRAPH, L.L.C. - Elmhurst IL
  • International Classification:
    G06F 3/02
  • US Classification:
    345168, 178 1801
  • Abstract:
A writing apparatus comprises a housing and a keyboard mounted in the housing and having keys representing symbols of a language. Each key is moveable from a rest position. Sensors sense position of each key and develop a signal representing position of each key. A controller is operatively connected to the sensors for monitoring the signal. The controller is configured to determine if any of the keys are pressed by monitoring the position of each key and for any given key determining if an amount of change in position from the rest position for the given key is greater than a select movement amount and rate of change in position for the given key is greater than a selected velocity amount, and generating change in an output state for the given key responsive to the given key being pressed.
  • Marking Device For Shorthand Machine

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43635571, Dec 14, 1982
  • Filed:
    Apr 27, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/257777
  • Inventors:
Paul J. Fowler - Glenview IL
    Frank Chvojcsek - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
    Stenograph Corporation - Skokie IL
  • International Classification:
    B41J 326
  • US Classification:
    400 91
  • Abstract:
A marking device for a shorthand machine selectively marks the margins of the paper tape output of the shorthand machine to denote a portion of the shorthand notes for ready reference. The activating keys for the device are located in close proximity with the machine keyboard, whereby the operator may activate the device with minimal interruption of the recording process. Disposable marking instruments may be employed in the device. Incorporation of the device in the machine cover preserves the first planar surface of the cover and further, facilitates storage of the device when not in use.
  • Referencing Device For Digital Data Recorders

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44397984, Mar 27, 1984
  • Filed:
    Sep 14, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/302117
  • Inventors:
    Frank Chvojcsek - Chicago IL
  • Assignee:
    Stenograph Corporation - Skokie IL
  • International Classification:
    G11B 500
    G11B 2700
    B41J 326
  • US Classification:
    360 4
  • Abstract:
An improved referencing device for identifying for future reference a portion of a data record as it is being recorded for use in combination with a shorthand machine generating electrical output signals corresponding to the keys depressed, a recording medium, and recorder associated with said shorthand machine for making a data record of the signals generated thereby on said recording medium. The referencing device comprises means for generating a reference signal separate and independent from the output signal generated by said shorthand machine and for inputting said reference signal to said data recorder for making a record of the referencing signal on the recording medium. A portion of the data record may then be identified for future reference by the reference signal record.
