Abstract:
Agglomerated granular detergent compositions containing at least about 10% sodium tripolyphosphate on an anhydrous basis and from 4% to 20% of an alkoxylated nonionic surfactant are prepared by spraying on or otherwise adding an aqueous sodium silicate solution as an agglomerating agent. The rate of hydration of the sodium tripolyphosphate and the degree of agglomeration of the granular detergent composition is controlled by addition of a portion of the total surfactant to one or more dry ingredients other than a major part of the sodium tripolyphosphate and the addition of another portion of the surfactant to the major part of the sodium tripolyphosphate concurrent with or subsequent to the addition of the agglomerating agent to the sodium tripolyphosphate.

Abstract:
A process for making coated detergent granules by producing detergent granules and then uniformly distributing finely divided powder onto the surfaces of the detergent granules by means of an electrostatic charging and delivery system. The detergent granules are comprised of from about 10 to 20 weight % water so that the finely divided powder adheres to the moist detergent granules even after the electrostatic change dissipates.

Abstract:
This is a process for making high active alkyl sulfate particles which are dispersible in cool or cold water. The process includes applying mechanical work to low moisture, neutralized C. sub. 12-18 alkyl sulfate paste. Included are detergent particles made by this process and a method for washing fabrics at cool or cold water temperatures using detergent particles made by this process.

Abstract:
Granular detergent compositions containing alkali metal polyphosphates are prepared by spraying an aqueous sodium silicate solution onto anhydrous alkali metal polyphosphates and optionally onto other dry ingredients, said aqueous sodium silicate solution containing from about 2% to about 20% by weight of a hydratable salt.

Abstract:
A process for making high active detergent particles by: (a) reacting in a continuous neutralization system alkyl sulfuric acid and /or alkyl benzene sulfonic acid with concentrated sodium hydroxide solution, (b) adding to the system polyethylene glycol of molecular weight about 4,000-50,000 and/or certain ethoxylated nonionic surfactants, and (c) forming detergent particles. Granular detergent compositions containing the detergent granules are also described.
Process For Coloring Granular Product By Admixing With Pigment/Diluent Premix
Finely divided particulate pigments which form large visible agglomerates are admixed with a non-agglomerating granular diluent to break up the visible agglomerates of pigment in a premix, the premix being used to color granular products such as spray dried detergent granules.

Abstract:
Alkaline dishwasher detergent composition having a specific critical pH; a specific mixture of alkali metal silicates for corrosion prevention, improved spotting and filming, and improved processing and physical characteristics; and having a relatively high level of surfactant. The detergent composition is substantially free of highly alkaline materials and organic builders.
