An automotive air conditioning system is provided comprising a duct for introducing a flow of air into a vehicle cabin, a closed-loop refrigeration circuit including a condenser and an evaporator, a temperature sensor arrange in the duct for measuring the temperature of the evaporator, and a control unit for selectively commanding operation of the system in accordance with the measured temperature of the evaporator. In a preferred embodiment, the temperature sensor comprises an infrared (IR) temperature sensor that is remotely positioned downstream of the evaporator such that the sensor can measure the temperature of a downstream surface of the evaporator. The use of an infrared temperature sensor allows the temperature of substantially the entire downstream surface of the evaporator to be measured instead of a small finite area of the evaporator.
The brightness of an LED display on an automobile instrument panel is independent of the battery voltage but does depend on the position of the instrument panel illumination dimmer potentiometer. The voltage applied to the LED is limited to a maximum by a zener diode control circuit and that voltage is reduced by a voltage detector circuit which senses the difference between the battery voltage and the dimmer potentiometer output voltage to reduce the LED voltage in proportion to that difference. The voltage detector circuit is disabled when vehicle parking lamps are turned off to insure maximum LED brightness in daytime driving.
A stereo pilot signal detector for an AM stereo receiver connects an input signal to a train of pulses corresponding to zero crossings of the input signal. These pulse lock a shift register having a data input connected with a timer which is reset from the pulses after the shift register is clocked. The timer produces a logic "1" input to the register during a time interval extending on either side of the zero crossings of the stereo pilot signal. If four consecutive zero crossings occur within the window, the stereo decoder and an indicator are enabled. Thereafter, if three out of four zero crossings occur outside said interval, the stereo decoder and indicator are disabled.
Monostable Multivibrator Timer Circuits With Reset
A pair of monostable multivibrator timers is described having a noninverted output terminal, an inverting output terminal, a timing capacitor coupled between the input and the noninverting output terminal and a timing resistor coupled between the high voltage side of a voltage source and the input terminal. The inputs of each of the monostable multivibrators are selectively grounded to provide a timed output signal upon termination of the input ground. The inverting output of each of the monostable multivibrators is coupled to the input of the other multivibrator so as to terminate an existing timed output signal provided by one multivibrator upon the initiation of a timed output from the other multivibrator.

Abstract:
Modular chair systems and methods of transporting a subject using a modular chair system are described. A modular chair system includes a seat component, a chair component, and a wheelchair component. The seat component includes a seat having a planar lower surface with one or more recesses and one or more attachment bars disposed in each of the recesses. The chair component includes one or more chair latch mechanisms and the wheelchair component includes one or more wheelchair latch mechanisms. Each attachment bar corresponds to one of the chair latch mechanisms and one of the wheelchair latch mechanisms such that the seat component is configured to be placed upon the chair component or the wheelchair component and releasably held in place by the chair latch mechanisms or the wheelchair latch mechanisms.
