Abstract:

Methods and apparatuses for the evaporation and condensation of water by utilizing latent heat of condensation and solar heating is provided. Various embodiments include a module that may be associated with a body of water and incorporate first and second dendritically liquid receiving channels, a dome, a lower chamber and an upper chamber. The first channel conducts water from the body of water to a reservoir located within the module. The second channel is in heat exchange relationship with the first liquid receiving channel and conducts water from the reservoir to the exterior of the module below the reservoir. The dome encloses the top of the reservoir and forms a vaporization chamber. An exit drain in the vaporization chamber leads to a collection channel for conducting demineralized condensate out of the module. Still other embodiments utilize at least two membrane layers having a plurality of dendritically-configured and/or nested channels.

Abstract:

An information processing system having an ellipsoid reflector, an optical signal processor, and a receiver. The ellipsoid reflector has an internal light-reflecting surface and first and second focal points. The optical signal processor includes a transmitter for transmitting a plurality of optically encoded signals along various distinct paths, where a portion of each path coincides with a line that passes through the first focal point. Where there signals travel along a path emanating from the first focal point, they are reflected by the ellipsoid reflector towards the second focal point. The receiver, which is at least partially located at the second focal point of the ellipsoid, collects those reflected signals for further processing. In a preferred embodiment the receiver includes a parabolic reflector with an external light-reflecting surface. Its focal point coincides with the second focal point of the ellipsoid reflector and its axis coincides with the major axis of the ellipsoid reflector.

Abstract:

This invention encompasses a device capable of taking two sets of videos or pictures from a slightly different perspective than the other, and using software to manipulate these two sets of media into one three-dimensional image that can be shared with others. One embodiment of the invention calls for a tray with a hand grip that holds two cell phones, and can adjust them to approximately an interpupillary distance, such that a user can take a picture with the device and have a recipient of the message view either the user or an objection the user is pointing the device at in three-dimensional view. The software also has image recognition abilities such that it can build a three-dimensional environment through the one-sided capture of an image, then pull data from an image recognition database to complete a three-dimensional representation of the object. Dual Bluetooth with close-range detection for shutter control was developed and tested successfully.

Abstract:

An information-processing system having spherical and parabolic reflectors, optical signal processors, and detectors comprising optically active surfaces. The spherical reflector has an internal light-reflecting surface and a spherical processor with internal and external optically active surfaces, with its center coincident with that of the spherical reflector. The optical signal processor's internal and external surfaces include transmitters and detectors for transmitting and receiving a optically encoded signals along various distinct paths. A portion of the internal path coincides with a line that passes through the center of the sphere. Optical signals emitted from the external surface of the processing sphere and reflected by the internal surface of the external spherical reflector to neighboring regions of the processing sphere, enabling external relay of information around the sphere without congesting the internal cavity of the sphere. This makes possible multiple uses of the same optical frequency during a given time period.
