Abstract:

A method of utilizing a food cutting guide that has a base having a circular first and circular second planar surface. The guide has a plurality of grooves formed in at least one of the planar surfaces and at least one centering guide formed on the at least one of the planar surfaces to facilitate cutting equal size slices and/or sections of food. A wider angled guide groove is formed at the end of each of the plurality of grooves. At least one centering groove/mark is concentric about an intersection of the plurality of grooves to center a pizza or food item. The cutting guide comprises at least one handle. A guide material comprises food safe and/or NSF approved plastic, wood and plastic composites, bamboo, wood, ash, hickory, oak, walnut, maple, purple heartwood, chestnut, cherry; plastic, porcelain, metal, stone, wood composite materials, glass, porcelain, bamboo, recycled paper composite, countertop material, plastic composite materials, and food safe materials; wherein the cutting guide first and second planar surfaces have enough friction so that protrusions are not necessary to stabilize the equal size slices and/or sections of food during cutting.

Abstract:

A food cutting guide comprising a base having first and second planar surfaces, a peripheral edge, at least one centering guide, and a plurality of self-centering cutting grooves formed in a planar surface that intersect to subdivide the surface into a grid of equally spaced segments to center and guide the movement of a cutting utensil in cutting the food, wherein at least one centering guide is disposed inwardly from said peripheral edge, and facilitates the placement of the food in the center; wherein the cutting grooves have terminal ends and middle portions that transition to flared openings at the terminal ends and a uniform width and depth in the middle portion between the flared openings, and has a V-shaped cross section; wherein each of said cutting grooves transition to its deepest and widest points at said peripheral edge; and maintain a consistent ratio of depth to width along the entire length of said cutting groove.

A food cutting and display tray comprising a tray body with a plurality of V-shaped cutting grooves formed in a first or second planar surface and radiate from a center point; a circular edge that defines the boundary of said planar surfaces; a gripping groove running about the circumference located between about 0.25″-1″ from said edge; at least one circular centering groove concentric about the center point; and wherein said gripping groove is in a shape selected from a series of discontinuous arc segments, and a continuous circle; wherein the plurality of cutting grooves guide a cutting tool along the grooves to cut a food item into substantially identical, equally-sized segments; wherein the tray material comprises food safe and/or NSF-approved materials that will withstand temperatures up to about 350 F.; and wherein the plurality of cutting grooves facilitate the emphasis, when displayed, that the slices are of equal size.
