Abstract:

A method for labeling -amyloid plaques and neurofibrillary tangles in vivo and in vitro, comprises contacting a compound of formula (I): with mammalian tissue. In formula (I), R is selected from the group consisting of âC(O)-alkyl, âC(O)-alkylenyl-R , âC(O)O-alkyl, âC(O)O-alkylenyl-R , âC C(CN) -alkyl, âC C(CN) -alkylenyl-R , R is a radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, substituted alkyl, aryl and substituted aryl; R is a radical selected from the group consisting of âNH , âOH, âSH, âNH-alkyl, âNHR , âNH-alkylenyl-R , âO-alkyl, âO-alkylenyl-R , âS-alkyl, and âS-alkylenyl-R ; R is a radical selected from the group consisting of âCN, âCOOH, âC(O)O-alkyl, âC(O)O-alkylenyl-R , âC(O)-alkyl, âC(O)-alkylenyl-R , âC(O)-halogen, âC(O)NH, âC(O)NH-alkyl, âC(O)NH-alkylenyl-R ; R is a radical selected from the group consisting of O, NH, and S; and R is N, O or S. R and R are each independently selected from the group consisting of alkyl and alkylenyl-R , wherein R is selected from the group consisting of âOH, âOTs, halogen, spiperone, spiperone ketal and spiperone-3-yl. Alternatively, R and R together form a heterocyclic ring, optionally substituted with at least one radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkoxy, OH, OTs, halogen, alkylenyl-R , carbonyl, spiperone, spiperone ketal and spiperone-3-yl.
