Abstract:

A system and method for deploying a hardware configuration with a computer program. The program may perform an instrumentation, measurement/control, industrial automation, or machine vision function, or other type of function utilizing hardware devices, and the behavior of the program may depend on various aspects of the hardware configuration of the computer system. An installation bundle that includes configuration information related to the hardware devices with which the program interacts may be automatically created and used to deploy the program on a new computer system. The installation bundle may include program instructions operable to install the program on the new computer system and automatically modify the hardware configuration of the new computer system so that the program will execute correctly.

Abstract:

System and method for error handling in a graphical program. An error handling structure is displayed in a graphical program. The error handling structure includes a first frame configured to contain graphical program code for which error handling is to be provided. At least a portion of the graphical program is included in the first frame in response to user input specifying the at least a portion of the graphical program. During execution of the graphical program, the error handling structure aborts execution of the at least a portion of the graphical program in the first frame in response to detection of an unhandled error in the at least a portion of the graphical program in the first frame and continues execution of the graphical program.

Abstract:

System and method for analyzing a graphical program. A graphical program is displayed on a display. A semantic edit operation is performed on the graphical program in response to user input. The semantic edit operation is performed by a first process. Semantic analysis of the graphical program is performed by a second process in response to performing the semantic edit operation, where the second process is asynchronous with respect to the first process. Results from the semantic analysis of the graphical program are displayed in response to completion of the semantic analysis. If during the semantic analysis, another semantic edit operation is performed on the graphical program, the semantic analysis may be preemptively terminated and re-initiated. Displaying results from the semantic analysis of the graphical program may then include displaying results from the re-initiated semantic analysis of the graphical program in response to completion of the re-initiated semantic analysis.

A computer-implemented system and method for automatically generating graphical code in a graphical programming system. The computer memory stores a plurality of graphical code templates. The graphical programming system executing on the computer system also includes a plurality of front panel objects or controls which represent the user interface. One or more associated graphical code portions or templates can be associated with certain of the controls. According to the present invention, the user first selects a control and then preferably initiates the graphical code generation wizard for the control. When the graphical code generation wizard is invoked, the wizard displays on the screen a configuration panel or dialog, prompting the user to configure the control or object. The user then selects parameter values to configure certain aspects of the graphical code being created. The graphical code generation wizard selects a graphical code template in response to the control and configures the graphical code template with the parameter values.
