Titanic violin found: Instrument recovered in attic bears message
Like the 1997 James Cameron movie, that story might spur a few tears.As the AFP reports,auction house Henry Aldridge & Son says it has confirmed the violin is that of Wallace Hartley. Aldridge tells AFP the message was from Hartleys fiancee: You can appreciate why he wanted to keep it with The current, unnamed owner contacted Henry Aldridge & Son, which specializes in Titanic items. The firm then consulted forensic scientists and Oxford and came to the conclusion that the violin was the genuine article.

Titanic violin found, authenticated by British auction house
Henry Aldridge and Son said it researched the violin's story with a Hartley biographer as the instrument underwent forensic testing, uncovering documents that showed Hartley was found with a large leather valise strapped to him and the violin inside.The violin apparently was returned to Hartley's grieving fiance, the auction house said, and later ended up in the hands of the Salvation Army before being given to a violin teacher and ultimately Henry Aldridge & Son.
