Abstract:
An easy-open display shipping container formed from a tray and a cover secured to the tray. A portion of the tray may be covered with a material having a releasing property. An adhesive strip secures the cover to the tray. The material having a releasing property allows the adhesive strip to be easily removed from the container without damaging the tray. The container may be opened at a retail point of sale to display items contained in the container in the undamaged tray. Graphics, such as advertisements, may be embedded in the material having a releasing property.
An elongated roller which can be used with a balance board to provide exercising and recreational opportunities for consumers. The roller has a smooth outer surface and a curvature such that the transverse cross-sectional diameter changes smoothly lengthwise. The consumers have complete freedom to move the board relative to the roller and can enjoy a wide variety of movement.
There is provided a shipping container and methods of manufacturing a shipping container that may be opened using a tear strip to sever a cover portion of the container from a tray portion of the container. The container is preferably formed from corrugated cardboard that includes an outer layer, an inner liner, and a corrugated medium disposed between the outer layer and the inner liner. The tear strip is preferably located on the inside of the inner liner, beginning at the glue flap. The outer layer, but not the corrugated medium or the inner liner, has a division to facilitate pulling the tear strip through the container to separate the cover from the tray portion. During manufacture, the inner liner and the corrugated medium are adhered to one another, and the outer layer is provided in two separate pieces that are adhered to the corrugated material, leaving a slit or a space between the two separate portions. The tear strip is then adhered to the inside area of the inner liner adjacent to or above the area where the slit is provided.
An open-ended collapsible paperboard container includes front and back wall panels, and side wall panels tapering to a bottom edge joining the front and back wall panels. In one embodiment of the invention, the side wall panels widen from the bottom edge to a location less than half the distance to the top of the container, and extend therefrom at essentially the same width to the top of the container. In a second embodiment of the invention, the side wall panels comprise diamond-shaped scores which bow inwardly, the diamond-shaped scores encompassing less than one-half the height of the container.
A wedge-shaped container is formed from a generally rectangular blank by collapsing triangular gusset panels defined in the side walls of the carton. The front wall panel includes a downwardly extending tongue that can be depressed into the carton to access a roll of strip material. An end of the strip material is drawn around the tongue and secured against the front wall panel of the carton for display to potential purchasers, and the entire carton and displayed strip material are preferably wrapped in clear plastic.
An improved food product tray for storing, cooking and serving food products. The food product tray is used to store, cook and serve a food product without assembly or disassembly by the end user. The food product tray includes a floor or base panel and a plurality of upright side panels which enclose the food product. A tab/slot configuration allows the upright side panels to expand outwardly from a first position to a second position as the food product expands during cooking. The base panel may include legs to elevate the base panel, and the base panel may include a plurality of vents to release fluids and gases from the food product. The interior surfaces of the base panel and upright side panels may include microwave absorbent material to enhance cooking of the food product using microwave energy.
A top-loading carton of paperboard or the like is constructed from a one-piece blank and enclosed by gussetted top panels. The top panels end in handles which define locking tabs which are received in slots in the side walls of the carton. The gusset panels urge the locking tabs into locking engagement with the slots. The end walls and top panels attached thereto taper outwardly from bottom to top of the carton, causing the side walls to bow outwardly when the top panels are closed, enhancing the appearance of the carton. The carton can be initially assembled into a collapsed flattened form from which it can be easily erected. An automatic bottom closure is provided.
A composite package for warm food items, and the like, in which a moisutre permeable flexible liner is laminated to a relatively rigid vented container base. Vent openings are provided by openings in the panels of the base, or by the open top of the base, all of which are enclosed by the liner. The liner is preferably treated to be impermeable to grease. Permeability of the liner to moisture allows moisture to escape from the interior of the package, while the liner prevents air circulation within the package and thereby keeps the contents from rapidly cooling.
