Abstract:

A folding chair comprising a first and second safety brace member that provide the chair with additional structural integrity. The chair having a folded configuration and an unfolded configuration comprises first and second chair support members that are pivotally attached to each other so as to define a central pivot axis such that the chair is manipulated between the folded and unfolded configurations by tilting the first and second chair support members with respect to each other about the central pivot axis. The chair further comprises a seat which extends between the first and second chair support members such that the seat is aligned with the support members in the folded configuration and horizontally aligned in the unfolded configuration. Respective first and second ends of each brace member are slidably mounted to the first and second chair support members so that that they are able to accommodate tilting of the first and second chair support members of the chair between the folded and unfolded configurations. In the folded configuration, the brace members are aligned with the first and second chair support members of the folding chair so as to enable a plurality of such chairs to be stacked within a reduced space.

Abstract:

Methods and a system are disclosed for processing an echocardiogram video of a patients heart. The echocardiogram comprises at least a first sequence of consecutive video frames corresponding to a first view of the patients heart concatenated with a second sequence of consecutive video frames corresponding to a second view of the patients heart. The end-diastole phase of the patients heart is monitored in each frame by detecting the electrocardiograph wave, and a key frame is selected upon the occurrence of the R-wave peak in the electrocardiograph wave in each of the first sequence of consecutive video frames and in the second sequence of consecutive video frames. The shape and color content of the echocardiogram image window is monitored in certain video frames, and a transition is detected when there is a change in the first feature between adjacent frames. A summary is generated which comprises by the video frames corresponding to the end-diastole phase.

A sign holding device for a folding chair that allows the user to display customized messages on a back rest of the chair. The sign holder is attached to the back rest in various manners so as to permit messages to be displayed when the chair is unfolded. The sign holders are configured such that when the chair is folded, the chair can be carried and stacked without having to remove the sign holders from the back rest. One embodiment of the folding chair also includes an integral carrying handle that permits the folded chair to be carried by one hand. The integral carrying handle further comprises an opening that permits the carrying hand to grasp the handle better, and also permit the chair to be unfolded without removing the hand from the handle, such that the unfolding action does not pinch the carrying hand.

Abstract:

Apparatus and method for implantation of intraocular lenses (IOLs) with various designs, particularly a full-size IOL, into the eye through small incisions are disclosed. A full-size intraocular lens mimics the natural human crystalline lens in size and volume. The SMART™ IOL, a full-size design, utilizes the thermodynamic properties of a crystalline polymeric material composition. The insertion apparatus and method of the present invention allow the full-size SMART™ IOL to be inserted through a small incision (about 4 mm or less) by deforming it with a crimping device into a solid rod and delivering the rod into the eye with a temperature-controlled injector equipped with a temperature control device. Once the solid rod is located in the desired position inside the eye, human body temperature softens the rod and allows it to reform back into the original lens geometry with defined optical properties.

A phospholipid microbubble comprising a shell which comprises a plurality of polyunsaturated fatty acid (“PUFA”)-containing phospholipids, and a core of inert gas surrounded by the shell comprising the plurality of PUFA-containing phospholipids. The present invention also provides methods of delivering a prophylactically or therapeutically effective amount of PUFA to an area of disease or injury in a subject.
