An invisible connector assembly for a beaded strand of jewelry includes solid connector posts mounted in through-bores in the end beads of the strand. One post is provided with a threaded stud extending axially from the bead, and the other post is tapped within the bore of the bead to receive the threaded stud. The opposite end of each connection post is provided with a swiveling eye for connection to one end of the string mounting the remaining beads of the strand.
A jewelry clasp used to secure a piece of jewelry to an individual. The clasp includes a female part attached to one end of the piece of jewelry that has a latch pivotally mounted within a recess on the female part. The latch includes a hook at one end having an outer sloping surface. The clasp also includes a male part attached to the opposite end of the piece of jewelry and including a loop. The loop has a crossbar at its outer end which has an outer sloping wall. The outer wall of the crossbar and the outer surface of the hooks slope in similar directions, such that when the crossbar is pressed against the hook, the hook slides upwardly with respect to the crossbar, until the hook passes over the crossbar and drops through the center of the loop to engage the loop. The clasp also includes a sleeve slidably mounted to the male part that selectively covers the engagement of the male part and female part when the clasp is in the engaged position.
A post and connector assembly for an earring of the pierced-ear type utilizes a conventional straight post and a connector that includes a resilient surface that is biased into a groove in the post to establish a positive locking position, but which surface is manually deflectable to release the lock to facilitate both connection and removal of the post.
A stringless connector for a strand of beads includes a two-piece interlocking assembly, each piece provided with an eyelet for connection to eyelets of connectors for adjacent beads. The eyelet of one member defines a pair of legs that are inserted into one end of the bore in a bead, one of the legs having locking tooth projecting toward the other leg. The other member has a straight shank extending into the bore from its eyelet, the end of the shank provided with a second locking tooth which enters the slot between the legs of the first member, overrides the tooth thereon and interlocks therewith.
A jewelry pendant for attachment to a strand of beads having a first and second countersink on opposite sides of the upper attachment end of the jewelry pendant. The countersinks are coupled at a junction to define an aperture through the upper attachment end of the jewelry pendant. The aperture is large enough to permit passage of a connector on a strand of beads and being smaller than the diameter of the end beads.
A closed loop connector for jewelry includes a first U-shaped connector half formed from a flat strip of metal and a second U-shaped connector half formed from a piece of metal wire. The connector half formed form the flat strip of metal includes tubular cylindrical end portions. The second U-shaped connector half is formed from a piece of metal wire having headed end portions, one of the headed end portions being captured in one of the cylindrical end portions and held therein for rotation on the axis thereof. The other of the headed end portions is captured in the other cylindrical end portion by lateral movement through an open slot in response to resilient deflection of the edges of the end portion forming the slot. The metal strips forming one of the U-shaped connector halves may be formed from stampings of different configurations.
At Newark Liberty and John F. Kennedy International Airports, criminals have unsuccessfully tried to smuggle drugs via luggage hand rails and liners, and also by swallowing them, said Howard Cheng, a spokesperson for Customs and Border Protection in New York.
