Information technology (IT) spending by a subject entity is assessed against an industry-wide optimal value of an IT benchmark and a result of that assessment displayed. Importantly, the IT benchmark developed by the present inventor accounts for the subject entity's IT spending as a percentage of the entity's revenue and the entity's IT spending as a percentage of the entity's operating expenses. For the industry as a whole, the optimal value of the IT benchmark is determined on the basis of profitability measures for individual companies within the industry. This process may be performed as part of a larger analysis concerning the subject entity's operations to provide an overall assessment of the entity's financial performance, health, etc.
A method and apparatus of playing a game of chance. The method includes the steps of providing a plurality of hoppers where each hopper of the plurality of hoppers contains a plurality of randomly selected equally weighted symbolic elements, providing a two-dimensional matrix having a plurality of spaces that corresponds to the plurality of hoppers and where each space of the plurality of spaces of the matrix is associated with a respective hopper of the plurality of hoppers, receiving a bet from a player that defines a physical relationship of predefined winning combinations with symbolic elements within the matrix, randomly selecting a symbolic element from each of the plurality of hoppers and displaying the randomly selected symbolic element in the associated space of the matrix and paying the player for each occurrence where the defined relationship of the bet matches the displayed elements in the two-dimensional matrix.
A glove or mitten includes a relatively thick insulating inner layer and an outer cover layer. The outer layer has an extra trigger finger receiving stall situated in front of the conventional trigger finger receiving stall. The single trigger finger receiving stall of the inner layer is received within the conventional trigger finger receiving stall of the outer layer. An opening, proximate the trigger finger receiving stall of the inner layer, permits the trigger finger of the wearer to extend through the inner layer and into the extra trigger finger receiving stall of the outer layer. Because the extra trigger finger receiving stall of the outer layer has no thick insulating inner layer therein, the trigger finger, when situated therein, can manipulate the trigger. Thus, the hand covering need not be removed to use the firearm. A waterproof, vapor permeable thin membrane intermediate layer may be provided.
The inventive method, which provides an accurate, objective and readily reproduceable characterization of the total colored appearance of a gemstone, includes the steps of identifying the main and overlay colors of an illuminated gemstone from among a predetermined set of primary colors by comparison of the stone with a series of reference color charts representing standard samples of the primary colors and of composite mixtures of the primary colors, identifying by comparison the proportion of overlay color to main color in each stone with respect to such proportion in the selected color chart to determine the overlay level, identifying the color saturation of the composite coloration of the gemstone by comparison with the selected color chart to determine the zone of coloration of the stone, and overlaying a color mask and the selected color chart to identify the degree of color masking present in the gemstone.
