Abstract:
A package unit of product and packaging structure wherein the product is stacked in layers and wherein a divider of fairly rigid heavy corrugated paper board is interposed between each layer, wherein each divider is provided at each of its side edges with at least two tabs projecting laterally outwardly therefrom, each tab having an aperture formed therethrough, wherein the apertures of stacked (superimposed) dividers are vertically aligned, wherein posts are inserted frictionally thru the aligned apertures, and wherein the stack of layered product and dividers is laterally banded.

Abstract:
A compressor shipping carton having a sheet-like base pad provided with a plurality of depressions or compressor feet retainers in the top surface thereof arranged in a close pattern and each adapted to snugly receive the mounting feet of a compressor for preventing lateral movement thereof, a plurality of rectangular, corrugated paperboard partitions having only side and end walls and being sufficiently wide to accommodate a single compressor and its associated retainer, and being sufficiently long to accommodate at least two compressors and their associated retainers, said partitions resting edgewise and side by side on said base pad, a plurality of rectangular, corrugated paperboard dividers each having side, top and bottom, and end walls providing a substantially closed tube of relatively narrow width and affording a degree of crushability for absorbing forces generated by tilting of the compressors, laterally aligned notches in the upper wall portions of the partitions and laterally aligned slots in the bottom and lower wall portions of the dividers, the dividers being assembled with the partitions by internesting of the notches and slots, with the dividers lying edgewise within the notches, thereby providing a plurality of transport pockets for the compressors.

Abstract:
A shipping package for individual product units such as compressors or the like, adapted for use with a substantially planar shipping pallet, the package having a base pad and at least one middle pad, each of which pads has a substantially planar corrugated board member having one or more upper and lower plies, at least one of the upper plies having a plurality of individual cut-outs opening at the top surface of the board member, each cut-out being shaped to receive lower portions of an individual product unit in a substantially confining manner for preventing lateral movement thereof, each middle pad having strengthening walls peripherally surrounding the board member and oriented normal to the plane thereof, the walls extending a substantial distance on each side of the plane for maintaining the planar character of the member against substantial distortion forces, a plurality of units positioned on each pad in the cut-outs with each middle pad poisitioned on the tops of underlying units, and a cap overlying the uppermost plurality of product units.
