Abstract:

A contact plater apparatus and method for plating selected areas of a web workpiece wherein the web workpiece and anode are in close proximity, separated only by the brush belt that contacts the web workpiece. A box manifold continually replenishes with plating solution, provides the brush belt with plating solution from openings in a header as the solution passes over an anode. The brush belt of open-cell foam or other absorbent material wicks up the plating solution and brushes it on the desired spot on the cathodic web workpiece. The brush belt is guided past the box manifold in an accurately defined path. The web workpiece and brush belt are brought into contact at the openings in the header of the box manifold where the plating takes place. The brush belt has a continuous loop of backing material that has considerable structural stability and is impervious to the plating fluid. The absorbent material is carried by this backing material.

The invention provides a method and apparatus for obtaining a selectable contrast image in an X-ray exposure. Abstract:

An automatic control system is provided for regulating the emission of an X-ray tube of the type which is activated by the heating of a cathode filament by passing current through the filament, and which emits X-ray radiation systematically in accordance with the amount of tube current flowing between the anode and cathode of the tube, with a relatively high voltage being applied between the anode and cathode. Current is passed through the filament and a tube current sensor is coupled to the X-ray tube for developing a tube current signal representative of the magnitude of the current flowing between the cathode and anode of the X-ray tube. Coupled to the current sensing circuit and responsive to the tube current signal is a circuit for generating a filament current control signal. A filament current control circuit is coupled between the filament current control signal generating means and the filament and is responsive to the filament current control signal for regulating the amount of current flowing through the filament, whereby the filament current is automatically adjusted in accordance with the magnitude of the tube current to maintain the tube current at a predetermined level.

An X-ray apparatus with improved housing of components comprises a pedestal with an X-ray table thereon, and power components of the apparatus housed within the pedestal. Those power components comprise the high voltage X-ray transformer and the power control for the same. An operator's control unit is remote from the pedestal and is connected to components within the pedestal by a low voltage cable. The control unit may be mounted on a table, wall, or other suitable location. The control unit contains the components that the X-ray technician needs to select the factors that determine the X-ray exposure.

Abstract:

A power shift transmission having a fluid pressure control system having an intake screen and level control located centrally in the bottom of the sump and a pump and regulator valve supplying pressure to the shift control system and to a sump oil level control. The sump oil level control has a small float controlling a relay valve to control an oil level control valve connecting an elevated oil reservoir for gravity feed to fill the sump and pressure return to the reservoir to dump the sump. When the transmission input and pump is not driven, there is no pressure in the chambers at opposite ends of the differential land area level valve and balanced springs hold the level valve in a central closed position blocking flow to and from the reservoir, to the sump and from the pressure line so the oil level control is inoperative. When the transmission input is driven, a small flow of line pressure is supplied through an inlet restriction to each chamber. When the oil level is low, a miniature float provides a small force to close the miniature relay valve closing a restricted exhaust from the chamber at the larger area land so equal pressures in the chambers act on the differential land area to move the level valve to the fill position closing the supply pressure port and providing a full flow connection from the reservoir for gravity feed at a low volume rate of flow to the sump.
