Abstract:
A connecting device for medical liquid administration sets, particularly for use in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis comprises a tubular port extending from a medical liquid container. The tubular port has a pierceable diaphragm positioned within and sealing the same. A hollow tubular piercing pin having a sharpened tip is used for penetrating the pierceable diaphragm. A length of flexible tubing extends from the piercing pin and is connected to a catheter positioned in the peritoneum of the patient. A locking mechanism is utilized for selectively retaining the piercing pin within the tubular port following insertion, and for asepticizing the connection. The locking mechanism comprises a tubular clasp which closes around the piercing pin and telescopes over the tubular port. A plurality of ratchets on the inside of the clasp lock the pin and port together following connection.
A device which will permit the introduction of a length of catheter tubing through a needle and into the epidural space of a patient wherein the chance of the tubing being kinked is substantially reduced. In one version, an adapter having two opposing protruding sections is provided with one protrusion fitting inside the hub cavity of an epidural needle and the other extending outwardly to provide a finger engaging orifice surface. With one of the protruding sections placed in the needle hub cavity a continuous passageway is provided from the outwardly protruding section having the finger engaging surface and through the passageway of the adapter which will be aligned with the passageway in the epidural needle ultimately communicating with the needle. In an alternative embodiment, a protruding section extends from the hub of an epidural needle and a continuous passageway is provided therethrough to the needle as well as the protrusion providing a finger engaging surface so that the small diameter tubing can be easily fed therein.
Adjustable Wireform Lamp Holder For Track Lighting Fixture
A unitary adapter is disclosed for placing a catheter in fluid communication with a syringe or other source of liquid medication. The adapter has a catheter connector for releasably securing the proximal end of a catheter extending from a patient's body and a connector releasably engaging the liquid medication source, the connectors being attached to one another and movable between an open position for inserting the catheter end and a closed position for securing the catheter end within the connector. The adapter is designed to prevent accidental opening and the resulting falling out of the catheter when the connectors are in the closed position.
A holder for documents, such as traffic parking violation citations includes a hollow elongated housing having a small opening therein to permit a rolled-up or folded-over document to be inserted therethrough and thus into the interior of the housing away from the small opening to trap the document within the housing. A door is swingably mounted over a larger opening in the housing for permitting access to the interior thereof to facilitate the removal of the document therefrom. A lock is provided for maintaining the door in its closed position so that the document or documents confined in the housing may be removed by authorized personnel only. A mounting device connected to the housing enables the holder to be attached fixedly to a surface of a vehicle. At least one fastening device secures fixedly the mounting device in position.

level of stress. James Gross, a Stanford psychologist and one of the authors of the study, hypothesized that people who generally experience less stress are those who continue on to more demanding leadership roles, instead of rising to a high-level leadership position and lowering ones stress level.

Investors feast on popularity of 'The Hunger Games'
James Gross, analyst with Barrington Research who follows the sector, said that "The Hunger Games" is almost certain to have the best opening so far this year and might end up No. 1 for the year, given the pre-sale demand for tickets.
Researchers Mary Murphy, Claude Steele and James Gross found that when women math, science and engineering undergrads simply watched a video that pitched a fictional conference where men outnumbered women, the women showed the physical signs of threat -- faster heart rates and sweating -- and repor
