Abstract:
A lock cylinder for a door including an opening, and operable to interact with a latch bolt assembly. The lock cylinder includes a housing that has a cavity, and a plug assembly that has a casing and a plug housed in the casing and rotatable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The plug is operable to interact with the latch bolt assembly, and the casing is disposed within the cavity. The lock cylinder also includes a spin ring member that at least partially encloses the housing, and an adapter that is configured to be installed in the opening of the door and that includes a spin ring interface engaged with the spin ring member. The adapter further includes a shield portion extendable into the opening of the door, and the spin ring interface and the shield portion are formed as a single piece.

Abstract:
A retainer clip is used for retaining a lock plug within a bore of a lock housing. The retainer clip includes a generally arcuate body disposeable about the plug outer surface and having a radial retention surface positionable generally against a housing end surface so as to prevent axial displacement of the plug along the bore. Two projections are each disposed proximal to a separate end of the body, each projection being disposeable within a separate plug opening when the body is disposed on the plug to retain the clip engaged therewith. The clip body has a hinge, a first arm portion extending between the hinge and one free end and a second arm portion extending between the hinge and the other end. The hinge is configured so that the two arm portions are deflectable generally about the hinge to move with respect to each other during installation and removal.

Abstract:
An adjustable backset deadbolt assembly providing operational and structural improvements. The deadbolt assembly can provide adjustability between a first backset dimension and a second backset dimension for allowing installation in doors conforming to various industry standards. The deadbolt assembly can provide adjustability between backset dimensions by relative rotation between the inner bolt housing and the outer housing. The inner bolt housing may be provided with a depressible snap finger to allow insertion of a protrusion thereon into a slot in the outer housing. In some embodiments, the slot is provided substantially helically through an angle of 360 degrees to provide common orientation of parts in each backset dimension. The outer housing may be provided to integrally form a cam housing and a bolt housing.

Abstract:
A locking mechanism for a door includes an outside actuator, an inside actuator, and a housing removably fixed to the door. A locking bar is selectively engageable with the housing. A first cam member is operable to move the locking bar from an unlocked position wherein the locking bar is released from the housing and a locked position wherein the locking bar is fixedly coupled to the housing. A spindle is rotatably coupled to the inside actuator and selectively coupled to the outside actuator. A second cam member is coupled to the first cam member and to the spindle and operable to move the locking bar from the locked position to the unlocked position in response to rotation of the inside actuator from a neutral position to one of a first clockwise position and a second counterclockwise position.

Abstract:
A door lock assembly is configured for installation in a cross bore of a door. The lock assembly includes a lock housing including a disk portion having an outer perimeter and an inner wall extending from the disk portion and defining an annular space between the inner wall and the outer perimeter and a lock space inside of the inner wall. The inner wall is sized to fit within the cross bore and define an annular gap between the inner wall and the cross bore. A retention clip is removably attached to the lock housing and includes a retention portion that engages the cross bore to removably retain the lock housing within the cross bore without the use of fasteners.

Abstract:
A status indicating handle assembly generally includes a handle, an activation carrier mounted in the handle, and a status indicator mounted in the handle and engaged with the activation carrier. The handle includes a shank extending along a longitudinal axis and a grip portion extending laterally from the shank. The activation carrier is mounted in the shank, and has an unlocking position and a locking position. The status indicator has a first state in which a first indicium is displayed and a second state in which the first indicium is not displayed. The activation carrier transitions the status indicator between the first state and the second state as the activation carrier moves between the locking position and the unlocking position.

Abstract:
A lock assembly for a door, the lock assembly including a first magnetic field sensor and a second magnetic field sensor. The first magnetic field sensor and the second magnetic field sensor are moveable with respect to the door to determine an open position of the door, a close position of the door, and a fault condition. In one embodiment, the first magnetic field sensor and the second magnetic field sensor move with respect to the door as the door moves from the open position and the close position. The first magnetic field sensor is spaced from the second magnetic field sensor such that each of the first and second magnetic field sensors detects a different value of magnetic field intensity. A controller determines a position of the door with respect to a door frame using signals provided by the first and second magnetic field sensors.

Abstract:
An illustrative battery retaining assembly comprises a retaining plate, and a casing including mounting devices. One of the mounting devices may include a hinge device, and another of the mounting devices may include a latch device. The retaining plate includes engagement portions engageable with the mounting devices, such that the retaining plate may be mounted to the casing. One of the engagement portions may include a channel engageable with the hinge device, and another of the engagement portions may include a catch engageable with the latch device. The mounting devices and engagement portions may be configured to enable the retaining plate to slide at an oblique angle with respect to the casing, to provide a variable separation distance between the casing and the retaining plate.
