Abstract:

A sealing member for sealing a joint between a pipe and a wall defining an opening is provided. The sealing member has an annular base, a projection, and preferably first and second annular flanges. The annular base has a bottom and first and second sidewalls. The projection is attached to the base for anchoring the sealing member within the wall. In some embodiments it extends radially outwardly from the base. The first and second annular flanges extend from opposite sidewalls of the base. The first and second flanges each have a top and a bottom surface. The top surfaces of each can have an annular depressed portion, and each of the bottom surfaces can have a plurality of grooves formed therein. Preferably, the base includes at least one cavity extending completely around the circumference of the sealing member. There is also disclosed the use of the sealing member in a concrete manhole structure having a wall defining an annular opening through which a pipe having an outer surface can pass so that a joint is defined between the wall and the outer surface, with the sealing member being encased in appropriate grout to secure the sealing member to the concrete structure.

Abstract:

A waterstop ring provides a flexible joint connection between a pipe and a concrete structure. The waterstop ring includes an annular waterstop member projecting from an outer circumference thereof, and a pair of annular shoulder portions respectively disposed on each side of the waterstop member. The waterstop member and each of the shoulder portions each include hollow annular cavities defined therein, such that when the waterstop ring is installed in a connection between a concrete structure and a pipe, and partially embedded within the concrete structure, the annular cavities allow deformation of the waterstop ring and thereby allow tilting movement of the pipe in a direction away from the central axis of the pipe.

Abstract:

An expansion ring assembly for sealing a gasket with respect to an annular wall of a rigid structure. The expansion ring assembly includes a drive mechanism for engaging and driving apart the opposing ends of an expansion ring to thereby radially expand the ring. The drive mechanism generally includes a pair of block members having threaded bores therethrough, and a bolt having oppositely-threaded ends which are threaded within respective threaded bores of the block members. The bolt additionally includes tool-receiving structure, such as a nut portion, which may be engaged by a suitable tool to rotate the bolt. The block members are respectively engaged with opposite ends of the expansion ring. Rotation of the bolt in a first direction simultaneously drives the block members apart from one another along the bolt to radially expand the expansion ring, and rotation of the bolt in a an opposite, second direction simultaneously drives the block members toward one another along the bolt to allow the expansion ring to radially contract.

Abstract:

A gasket and mandrel assembly, including a gasket having an annular main body portion with an anchor flange and a pipe sealing portion. The gasket is foldable between a folded position in which the pipe sealing portion is disposed substantially within the main body portion and an unfolded position in which the pipe sealing portion extends outwardly of the main body portion along its longitudinal axis. A pair of mandrels are respectively fitted on opposite sides of the folded gasket to enclose most of the gasket for casting the gasket within a wall in a concrete structure. At least one of the mandrels includes an annular outer surface aligned parallel or substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the gasket. Removal of the mandrels results in the cast opening in the concrete structure having a circular inner surface which is disposed parallel or substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the gasket and the resulting opening such that, if the gasket should fail, the gasket may be removed from the opening and an expansion-type gasket may be sealingly compressed against the opening surface with an expansion band assembly.

To reduce noise in the data series, the slope is set to a predetermined number if it is less than a predetermined value. To further reduce noise, a noise interval within the data series is determined and, if the noise interval is within a predetermined range, the data series is divided by another predetermined number, and new values are produced for the data series.
