Abstract:

A guide for guiding the movement of an automotive window along a channel shaped track is disclosed. The guide is made from two molded, identical plastic half members which are snap fittingly connected together and which have track receiving head portions which are held apart by bowed leafs and biasingly held via integral hinges in sliding engagement with the track when connected therewith to eliminate or minimize rattling noise therebetween.

Abstract:

A vehicle body structure of a vehicle has a pair of body side frame sub-assemblies running longitudinally on the vehicle and an underbody sub-assembly extending transversely across the vehicle. Each of the body side frame assemblies has a body side outer panel having a lower horizontal flange extending longitudinally and projecting outboard, and a forward vertical flange projecting outboard. A longitudinally extending rocker inner frame of the body side frame assembly has an inboard vertical wall spaced inboard from the body side outer panel and a lower horizontal wall projecting outboard having an extreme outboard portion underlying the lower horizontal flange of the body side outer panel. The underbody sub-assembly has a generally planar floor pan having a pair of longitudinal edges and a horizontal surface adjacent to each of the longitudinal edges underlying and engaging the lower horizontal wall of the rocker inner frame of one of the body side frame sub-assemblies. The horizontal surface of the floor pan secures to the extreme outboard portion subsequent to the underbody sub-assembly being adjusted transversely relative to the body side frame sub-assemblies.

Abstract:

The disclosure relates to a vehicle door and window assembly in which the door has a pair of spaced, arcuate sheet metal guide rails and the window adjacent its side edges is secured to a pair of plastic guides which are slidable on the rails for movement through a path of a given radius and with the guides maintaining the windows substantially flush with the adjacent side door structure. The plastic guides have a transverse dimension, as measured between the rails and the outer window surface, which progressively increases proceeding from their upper ends toward their lower ends so that the window has a radius which is greater than the radius of its path of movement whereby the window is moved away from its outer belt line seal when lowered into the door and whereby the window moves both upwardly and outwardly as it is being raised so that it is also substantially flush with the outer belt line of the door when in its closed position.

Abstract:

An exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system (10) includes a proportional solenoid valve (28) that regulates vacuum pressure to a vacuum-actuated EGR valve (12). The proportional solenoid valve (28) includes an inductive coil (30) that generates a magnetic field when energized. An electronic control unit (26) energizes the coil (30) with a fixed-frequency pulse-width modulated signal. The periodic magnetic field drives a ferromagnetic armature valve (44) open and closed--alternately admitting then closing-off a flow of. atmospheric-pressure air that is used to alter the vacuum pressure output to the EGR valve (12). The vacuum pressure is dependent upon the amount of current flowing through the coil (30) during each pulse. The resistance of the coil (30) is temperature-dependent and to maintain the current in the coil (30) constant over temperature, the coil (30) is connected in series with a resistive combination of circuit elements (48) having a temperature coefficient of resistance that is opposite that of the coil (30). The resistive combination of circuit elements includes a temperature-stable resistor (50) connected across a thermistor (48) to modify the temperature-response curve of the thermistor to more closely offset that of the coil (30).

Abstract:

A vehicle door assembly has a pair of spaced guide channels carried below its belt line which slidably receives pin guides secured to the sides of the lower end portion of the window for guiding the movement of a window between its open and closed positions. The window is bent along a horizontal line so that its exterior surface will be substantially flush with an exterior surface of the door assembly when in its closed position. The door assembly also includes a door frame means which permits lateral movement of the window as it is moved between its open and closed positions and a seal means carried by the door frame which engages the window along its interior sides to bias the same outwardly toward an outer flange on the door frame. The seal means includes a vertically extending dowel portion, preferably a tapered dowel portion, which engages an upper side edge of the window as it approaches its closed position to retain the window outwardly against the outer flange of the door frame means in order to stabilize the window against inward lateral movement when in its closed position. The two side pin guides received in the channels and the dowel provide a triangulated or three point stabilizing means for the window when the latter is in its closed position.
