Abstract:

An antioxidant useful for stabilizing polyesters having the formula ##STR1## where R. sub. 1 is hydrogen or a lower alkyl radical; R. sub. 2 is a monovalent radical containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, free of ethylenic or acetylenic unsaturation, and having a molecular weight between about 99-300 and, further, containing two carboxyl groups or their ester forming equivalents; R. sub. 3 and R. sub. 4 are tertiary alkyl radicals each containing not more than 8 carbon atoms; and x is an integer of from 0-4.

Abstract:

Thermoplastic elastomeric polyetheresterimides comprising a multiplicity of long chain ester imide units represented by the formula ##STR1## and short chain esterimide units represented by the formula ##STR2## where G is a divalent radical remaining after the removal of terminal hydroxyl groups from a poly(alkylene oxide) glycol having a number average molecular weight of about 400-4000; D is a divalent radical remaining after removal of hydroxyl groups from a diol having a molecular weight less than about 300, and Q is a divalent radical remaining after removal of an amino group and a carboxyl group from a aliphatic primary amino acid having a molecular weight of less than 250; with the proviso that from about 2 to 10 of said short chain esterimide units are present for each of said long chain esterimide units.

Abstract:

A melt processible thermoplastic composition comprising a blend of: (A) 15-75 parts by weight of a crystalline polyolefin resin comprising polymerized monomer units of ethylene or propylene or mixtures thereof, and (B) 25-80 parts by weight of a crosslinked ethylene/alkyl acrylate elastomer made from dynamically crosslinking an ethylene/alkyl acrylate/monoalkyl ester of 1,4-butenedioic acid copolymer containing about 60-90 weight percent ethylene and wherein the alkyl group of the alkyl acrylate contains 1-6 carbon atoms, the dynamically crosslinked elastomer being dispersed throughout the crystalline polyolefin resin.

A thermoplastic elastomeric composition comprising a dynamically crosslinked grafted polyolefin copolymer elastomer and a thermoplastic crystalline polyolefin is disclosed. The crosslinked elastomer is dispersed in the thermoplastic crystalline polyolefin which is present as the continuous phase. The grafted elastomer is ethylene/propylene/diene terpolymer or ethylene/propylene copolymer grafted with fumaric acid, maleic acid, maleic anhydride or derivatives thereof capable of reacting with diamine crosslinking agents.
