Abstract:

According to the invention, a process for transferring credit from a sender to a number of recipients using a wide-area computer network is disclosed. In one step, a server computer system receives information from the sender to transfer credit to the number of recipients. The information includes a unique identifier for each of the number of recipients and a credit amount. A first handler chosen by the sender and a second handler chosen by one of the number of recipients are determined. A credit transfer from the first handler is requested. The credit amount from the first handler is received at the server computer system. The credit amount is sent to the second handler associated with the one of the number of recipients.

Abstract:

According to the invention, a method for automatically transferring credit between a stored value fund and a handler using a wide-area computer network is disclosed. In one step, automated transfer information is received at a server computer system from the wide-area computer network that is coupled to a user associated with the stored value fund. The handler chosen by a user for an automated transfer, the direction of the automated transfer with respect to the stored value fund and an amount for the automated transfer are determined. The amount is automatically transferred between the stored value fund and the handler.

Abstract:

A micro motion poppet valve for a writing instrument provides delivery of ink with large pigment particles to a porous writing nib with minimal nib movement and relatively light actuation forces. The micro motion poppet valve includes a nib connected to a valve stem, the valve stem being connected to a valve plug. A valve body is integrally formed with a biasing element, which biases the valve stem towards a closed position. When a user presses the nib against a writing surface the valve plug moves away from a raised valve seat located on the biasing element to allow ink to flow from an ink reservoir to the nib.

Abstract:

A food product slicer comprises a housing having a bilevel profile which includes a raised portion having a first aperture therein and a horizontal planar portion having a second aperture therein; a slicing blade mounted for rotation on a drive shaft extending through the first aperture; a compartment on the bottom side of the housing defined by a wall member; a scale including a platter, mounted on a post extending through the second aperture; a load cell mounted in the compartment and engaging the post extending through the second aperture; and an electronic control for operating the scale and slicer, mounted in the housing outside of the compartment. The platter is located below the slicing blade such that the food product sliced by the slicing blade is deposited on the platter, and the post is mounted to the center of the platter, such that a food product portion deposited on the platter will measure substantially the same weight on each corner of the platter. The invention also comprises a display, electrically coupled to the scale, for providing a readout of the weight of the food product portion deposited on the scale. Abstract:

A waste disposal device for sealing waste and a cassette for dispensing film are disclosed. The waste disposal device comprises first and second rollers, each comprising first and second end portions and a joining portion therebetween. The end portions of the first and second rollers are arranged to receive and seal first and second film portions therebetween as the first and second rollers rotate. The joining portions of the first and second rollers are arranged to define an aperture for receiving waste in a first rotary configuration of the rollers and to seal the first and second film portions therebetween in a second rotary configuration of the first and second rollers. The cassette comprises first and second portions comprising respective first and second film dispensers. The first portion is mechanically connected to the second portion. The cassette is moveable between a first, compact configuration and a second, extended configuration.
