Abstract:

The effectiveness of advertisements with respect to a group of panelists is measured. Based on the results of such analysis, advertisements and/or variants thereof are selected for presentation to consumers. Effectiveness of advertisements is measured, in one embodiment, by detecting exposure to advertisements, and then monitoring panelist behavior following exposure to an advertisement. In one embodiment, the group of panelists is a representative sample of a larger population, so that observations of panelist behavior can be used as a basis for making decisions regarding presentation of advertisements to a larger audience having characteristics similar to those of the panelists.Once the relative effectiveness for various audiences has been determined, advertisements can be selected for presentation to individual consumers or to groups of consumers, so as to maximize effectiveness. In one embodiment, such analysis and selection is performed substantially in real-time.

Abstract:

The present disclosure teaches systems, devices, and methods to detect sleep apnea. A method, for example, includes affixing a sleep apnea detection device to a patient. The sleep apnea detection device has a processor, at least one memory, at least one micro-electromechanical system (MEMs) device, at least one transceiver, and at least one power source to power the sleep apnea detection device. Data that indicates the patient's breathing is collected with the at least one MEMs device, and based on the collected data, at least one of the patient's inhalations and the patient exhalations is determined. It is also determined when the patient fails to inhale over a determined first period of time. Based on a number of times the patient fails to inhale, an Apnea Hypopnea Index (AHI) score is calculated, and if the AHI score crosses a selected threshold, it is determined that the patient has sleep apnea.

Abstract:

The present disclosure teaches systems, devices, and methods to monitor the correct positioning of a positive airway pressure (PAP) mask. In the system, a PAP mask monitor is configured to capture sound from a PAP device over a first period of time; capture sound from a patient breathing over the first period of time; determine a difference between the PAP device sound and the patient breathing sound over the first period of time; and identify, based on a fast Fourier transform (FFT) analysis a selected frequency that can distinguish the patient's breathing from other noise. The PAP mask monitor is further configured to assert a dislodged mask alert signal if a breathing event is not detected during a determined apnea time window; and communicate an alarm signal to a smart wearable device that will awaken the patient so that the mask can be re-positioned properly.
