Abstract:
A soft sided briefcase is disclosed which has typical compartments and further includes external pockets with secure flap closures. The pockets are affixed to the side of the briefcase, and the flap closures are suitably hinged to a portion of the pockets. Sections of the pockets as well as areas of the flaps include cooperating steel plate members and permanent magnets, or both having permanent magnets, to provide access faster than would be possible via conventional zipper closures and is reasonably secure in providing protective closure for internal contents.

Abstract:
This invention provides a hanger supporting device for a garment bag which will accommodate both ordinary hangers and luggage-type hangers. The device includes a plate attachable to a garment bag, a first channel connected to the plate, a second channel carried by the first channel, a third channel pivotally connected to the second channel, and a rail connected to the second channel. The rail is adapted to engage luggage-type hangers. A pad having a notched surface is carried by the third channel and adapted to support ordinary hangers. A latching arrangement releasably holds the third channel adjacent the first channel to retain the hanger in the notches in the pad.

Abstract:
A clothes hanger support for a garment bag or other similar item of luggage includes a depending bracket member pivotally supporting a lower jaw member with hanger-supporting features. A closure member and latch handle cooperates with the bracket and jaw members in a closed position to hold the latter in a hanger-retaining position. Alternatively, the closure member latch handle may be pivoted to allow the jaw member to itself pivot to an open position for insertion or removal of hangers on the support. Pivotal return of the closure member latch handle to the closed position also moves the jaw member to its hanger-retaining position by cooperation of a ramp surface and ramp-follower surface of the closure member latch handle and jaw member, respectively. Preferably, the entire hanger support may be made of four unitary components which are formed of injection molded engineering polymer.
A garment bag of the type having an elongate body substantially formed of flexible fabric or sheet material, and defining a cavity with a hanger support at the top for receiving hanging clothes on hangers. The bag folds double on itself for transport, and includes a pair of rigid wall portions which when the bag is folded double on itself are urged forcefully together. These rigid wall portions substantially immobilize the clothing items therebetween to greatly reduce creasing and wrinkling of the clothing items which would otherwise result from their shifting about in transit. The garment bag also includes features preserving the efforts of careful packing during folding and unfolding of the bag to further reduce clothes wrinkling. Also, the garment bag includes a specially configured toiletries kit which by its shape and placement in the folded bag further contributes to a reduction of clothes wrinkling. The garment bag is also self-supporting in its transport conditions so that it is more convenient to carry by hand.

A duffle bag having a number of latching devices and slide fastener closures for providing access to a number of different interior compartments is provided with a single security device that prevents inadvertent or unauthorized opening of the latching devices and fasteners. The slide fasteners have apertured slide operators. A bag flap is closed by quarter turn twist locks having apertured twist studs. A flexible cable, fixed to the bag at one end, is threaded through the slide operators and apertured twist studs and has its other end connected to a lock plate that is fixed to the bag. The lock plate is arranged to accept a key-operated lock that prevents unauthorized detachment of the cable end from the lock plate.
