Abstract:
The present invention relates to a composite user agent acting on behalf of a group of member user agents in a communication network. The composite user agent provides its group of member user agents with a specialized proxy function while representing the group to the network as a single user agent. To devices on the communication network, the composite user agent behaves and is viewed as a user agent. To the group of member user agents, the composite user agent behaves and is viewed as both a registrar and a proxy server.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a personal user agent acting on behalf of a group of member device agents in a communication network. The personal user agent provides its group of member device agents with a specialized proxy function, while representing the group to the network as a single user agent. To devices on the communication network, the personal user agent behaves and is viewed as a user agent. To the group of member device agents, the personal user agent behaves and is viewed as both a registrar and a proxy server.
Integrating Multimedia Capabilities With Circuit-Switched Calls

The present invention monitors call signaling events stemming from a circuit-switched call between a caller and a called party and controls a packet-session between user agents on respective endpoints associated with the caller and called party. The endpoints may include any type of computational device capable of facilitating the packet-session over a packet-switched network. Control of the user agents may be provided via a proxy for the user agents and may use the session initiation protocol (SIP), or like session control protocol for communications.

Abstract:
A mechanism is provided allowing a user to initiate registration of his telephony address with another terminal in an efficient and user-friendly manner. The user initiates a call to a registration service to establish an audio connection with his terminal. Once the audio connection is established, the user may audibly provide a registration command and his identity to facilitate registration of the user at the terminal for future calls directed to the user's telephony address. From the command and identity, the registration service will recognize that registration is being requested, determine the identification of the user, and authenticate the user. The user is authenticated by deriving a voiceprint from the user and comparing it with a reference voiceprint that was previously derived from the user. Assuming that the user is authenticated, the service will effect registration, such that future calls for the telephony address are terminated at the terminal.
