State officials have declared a state of emergency in Davie County because of extensive damage from Wednesdays violent thunderstorms, a Davie County dispatcher said. Jerry Myers, Davies fire marshal, and its fire departments were assessing damage in the county Wednesday night.

Three people were injured because of the storm in Davie County, said Jerry Myers, the Davie County Fire Marshal. Two people were injured in the storm, and a man was injured when he was cutting a tree and cut his leg, Myers said.
