Abstract:
The present invention relates to breathable film compositions and processes for producing such compositions. The breathable films comprise a polyolefin continuous phase and a polystyrene dispersed phase. Said films are useful in many applications including diapers and other personal hygiene devices.
Controlled permeability films are described that comprise at least on film-forming polymer and an inert, nonporous filler material having an average particle size such that the ratio of the average particle size of the filler to the film thickness is 0.67 to 0.99. Packages comprising such a controlled permeability film, and methods for making the film and using it to improve the storage life of a perishable article are also described.
Layered, water vapor permeable composite comprise at least one water vapor permeable film layer and at least one substrate layer, the water vapor permeable film (i) comprising at least one film forming polymer and at least one inert porous filler, (ii) having a water vapor transmission rate of at least 1000 g/m/day, and (iii) activated. Representative film forming polymers include ethylene interpolymers, and representative fillers include silica glass beads. One exemplary method of activating the film is to subject it to sufficient pressure such that the glass beads are crushed within the film matrix.

Abstract:
Provided is an artificial turf yarn having improved heat resistance, durability, softness and extensibility. The artificial turf yarn contains two components: an olefin block copolymer (OBC) and a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE). The yarn includes from about 10 wt % to about 80 wt % of the OBC and from about 20 wt % to about 90 wt % of the LLDPE which produces an artificial turf yarn with improved softness and toughness while maintaining heat resistance.
