Abstract:
In a burst operation, a counter receives one or more bits of a starting column address. The count signal generated by the counter is provided to column decoders. The column decoders select two columns in response to a single value of the count signal. The two columns can be at non-consecutive column addresses. Alternatively, the two columns can be at consecutive column addresses starting at an odd column address boundary. Data are transferred between the two columns and a buffer in parallel. Data are transferred between the buffer and a data terminal serially. Some embodiments are suitable for burst operations defined by standards for synchronous dynamic random access memories.

Abstract:
A method and system senses the attitude of an accelerating object. Attitude sensing is accomplished by measuring acceleration in three orthogonal axes and measuring angular rate about each such axis to compute attitude accurately relative to a vertical axis. The system includes accelerometers and angular rate sensors for sensing the acceleration and the angular rate, respectively, of the object. A processor updates a quarternion representation of attitude based upon the angular rate of the object and a corrective rate signal to obtain the attitude of the object. Temperature compensation and frequency compensation may also be performed to update the quarternion.

Abstract:
The present invention provides protein-based biomarkers and biomarker combinations that are useful in qualifying ovarian cancer status as well as endometrical cancer status in a patient. In particular, it has been found that hepcidin is a biomarker for both ovarian cancer and endometrial cancer and that a panel of biomarkers, including hepcidin, transthyretin and optionally other markers are useful to classify a subject sample as ovarian cancer or non-ovarian cancer. The biomarkers can be detected by SELDI mass spectrometry.

Smart Target System For Combat Fitness And Competition Training
A combat training system for competition and impact fitness training provides a feedback mechanism that supports virtual sparring. The system is designed for athletic training and game-play, for one or multiple users. Sensors attached to a target structure may capture data about strikes on the target including proximity to a target, force of impact, direction, and reaction time. A target structure may be an instrumented punching bag, mannequin, or other structure that may move when struck. Data collected by the sensors may be sent to an analytic system that updates a display presenting a cumulative score, and/or for each strike, the data collected and the points awarded. An athlete may configure the target system for a particular session such as which targets in the system are active, a point value associated with each target, and/or the force of a strike required to count as a valid strike.
Method And System For Adjusting Centrifuge Operation Parameters Based Upon Windage

Abstract:
A method and system of determining an operation parameter for a centrifuge includes measuring one or more physical characteristics of a rotor interchangeably supported by a rotor drive. In the preferred embodiment, windage is measured at a first rotational speed and a speed-dependent signal is generated to adjust a vacuum system based upon changes in rotational speed of the rotor. Changes in windage may also be used as a basis for adjusting a refrigeration circuit. Either as an alternative or in addition to monitoring windage, the moment of inertia can be measured and used to adjust adaptive circuitry. For example, the drive circuitry may be adjusted based upon a determination of inertia as the physical characteristic of interest. The method and system isolate inertia and windage as the main forms of resistance to acceleration of the rotor.
