A method for thermal driven placement begins by first computing thermal response functions for individual components for several locations on a placement surface as a preprocessing step to placement. The thermal response functions can then be used to compute junction temperatures of components quickly and accurately during placement of the components in a layout. For a given component location, the components junction temperature is computed by summing the contributions of neighboring components with the components own contribution. The difference between predefined junction temperatures for the components and the calculated junction temperatures can then be used to assess the merits of the placement.

Abstract:
An innovative routing method for an integrated circuit design layout. The layout can include design netlists and library cells. A multiple-level global routing can generate topological wire for each net. An area oriented graph-based detail routing on the design can be performed. A post route optimization after the detail routing can be performed to further improve the routing quality. Some methods can be single threaded all or some of the time, and/or multi-threaded some or all of the time.

Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses to cancel database queries from a web application user interface in a networked database application. In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a user request to cancel a query previously sent to a database and calling an application programming interface (API) provided by the database to terminate one or more statements running on the database, the one or more statements being related to the query.

Abstract:
Methods and systems to learn an optimal user experience. The system receives a request over a network from a user. The request includes context information. The system identifies a response to the request is to be utilized to learn whether a first interface component included in a first plurality of interface components is an optimal choice for a first decision. The response includes an interface. The interface includes the first interface component. The system identifies the response to the request is to be utilized based on the context information. Finally, the system communicates the response over the network to the user.

Abstract:
To perform an inter-technology handoff, an indicator in a service request message is received by a mobile switching center (MSC). The indicator is to indicate to the MSC that an inter-technology handoff from a packet-data wireless access network to a circuit wireless access network has been requested. The behavior of the MSC is modified in response to the indicator to reduce the communication silence during the inter-technology handoff.

New Type of Extremely Reactive Substance Discovered in the Atmosphere
iscovery suggests that there could be plenty of other things in the air that we dont yet know about. Indeed, the air surrounding us is a huge tangle of complex chemical reactions. As researchers, we need to keep an open mind if we want to get better at finding solutions, concludes Jing Chen.
