UK Fourth-Quarter GDP Grows 0.7%, Ending Best Year Since 2007
The economy does seem to be improving more consistently, said Joe Grice, chief economic adviser to the ONS. Todays estimate suggests over four-fifths of the fall in GDP during the recession has been recovered.
"We have now seen four successive quarters of significant growth and the economy does seem to be improving more consistently," Joe Grice, the statistics office's chief economic adviser, said of Tuesday's data.

Growing economy shows Britain is on the right track, ministers say
Joe Grice, chief economist at the Office for National Statistics said: "We have now seen four successive quarters of significant growth and the economy does seem to be improving more consistently.
"The bottom line from all this is that the underlying performance of the economy was probably somewhat better than the headline figure of -0.7% would suggest having regard to the extra bank holiday and to the poor weather," said Joe Grice from the ONS.
