Abstract:

A locking tubing system includes a length of tubing lying in any geometric complexity including a substantially straight line and a first fitting body having a securing member rotationally locked thereto. The first fitting body is affixed to one end of the length of tubing. The system also includes a first nut having a plurality of openings in cooperative relation to engage the securing member, a second fitting body having a securing member rotationally locked thereto, the second fitting body is affixed to the other end of the length of tubing and a second nut having a plurality of openings in cooperative relation to engage the securing member. The first nut and the second nut are threaded onto corresponding mated fittings, each securing member being engaged with at least one of the openings of the respective nuts thereby locking each of the nuts to the respective fitting body.

Abstract:

A fluid coupling capable of indicating proper tightening includes a fitting body having a flared end with a back side. The fitting body also includes an indicator spaced a predetermined distance away from the back side. A threaded nut is positioned around the fitting body adjacent the flared end and includes a back end and a shoulder portion spaced away a predetermined distance therefrom. The shoulder portion is concentrically aligned with the back side of the flared end. The fluid fitting also includes a belleville washer(s) positioned around the fitting body adjacent the back side of the flared end, which is (are) compressed upon threading and torquing of the nut onto the threaded end of a male fitting. When a predetermined amount of torque has been applied to the nut, the indicator is visible adjacent the back end of the nut.

Abstract:

A user, through the use of an input device, provides signals indicative of x,y and z coordinates to a host central processing unit (CPU). The x,y and z coordinates provided by a user correspond to a desired viewpoint for the display of an object stored in an original data image memory. A graphics CPU is coupled to the host CPU for receipt of the x,y and z coordinates as well as to the original data image memory. The graphics CPU is further coupled to a program memory as well as two display buffers, each of which of comprises a bit map of points on the display. The graphics CPU, executing a rendering program stored in the program memory, renders (writes) the data comprising the object for the viewpoint corresponding to the x,y and z coordinates provided by the user. After a predetermined percentage (N) of data comprising the object have been rendered into the non-displayed buffer, the graphics CPU signals a multiplexor which couples the display to the previously non-displayed display buffer, thereby displaying the predetermined percentage (N) of data which have been rendered. In the event that the user does not provide any new x,y and z coordinates representing a different viewpoint, the graphics CPU continues to render the data comprising the object into the displayed buffer, resulting in the appearance to the user that the object is "sparkling" into view.

Abstract:

A fitting or fitting assembly is provided that comprises a fitting body having an enlarged first end, a nut having a circumferential ridge that has a diameter less than the first end of the fitting body so that the first end prevents the nut from sliding further in one direction, and a ring that is adapted to be assembled onto the exterior surface of the fitting body to prevent the nut from sliding further in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The nut has interior threads that are adapted to receive the external threads of a mated fitting. A method for assembling the fitting comprises the steps of sliding a nut having an internally threaded portion onto a fitting body having an enlarged end that prevents axial movement of the nut in a first direction, and press-fitting a retention ring about the fitting body at a desired position in order to limit the axial movement of the nut in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

Abstract:

The present invention includes a system and a method for attaching the end of a tube of a plastically deformable material such as titanium to a hard metal fitting in a manner that can provide the resulting tube joint with increased strength and fatigue resistance. In the method the tube and fitting are assembled by inserting the tube into the end of a bore in the fitting. A radial force is exerted against a predetermined axial length of the tube wall, and thus also against the fitting, to plastically deform the tube wall radially into plural, axially spaced, circumferential grooves in the fitting bore. While this radial force is being exerted, a die restrains the fitting, causing it to deform elastically more near the end of the fitting bore than near the end of the tube. In the resulting tube joint the fitting applies residual circumferential stresses to the tube that are larger near the end of the fitting bore, and this stress distribution increases the fatigue resistance of the tube joint.
