I grew up on the other side of the Columbia River in SE Portland. After graduating from David Douglas High School, I spent one year playing football at Grinnnell College in Iowa. Following my freshman year, I transferred to Concordia University, where I received my bachelor's degree in history with a business minor. I went on to earn my MA in history from Ohio University.Upon completing my formal education, I began working as a historian on a contract with the US Army. In support of the Combat Studies Institute at Fort Leavenworth, KS, I research and write historical studies relevant to contemporary operations.I live in E Vancouver, along with my wonderful wife Deborah. In the spare time that I have, I enjoy cooking barbecue, playing basketball, and working on various projects around the house.
