Abstract:

A receptacle including a housing having a front cover, an outlet located on the front cover, and a light configured to project light through the front cover. The receptacle further including a photo sensor, a motion detector, and a controller. The photosensor is configured to detect light and output a light signal corresponding to the detected light. The motion detector is configured to detect motion and output a motion signal corresponding to the detected motion. The controller includes a memory and an electronic processor. The controller is configured to receive the light signal, receive the motion signal, compare the light signal to a light signal threshold, compare the motion signal to a motion signal threshold, and activate at least one selected from a group consisting of the light and the outlet, when the light signal crosses the light signal threshold and the motion crosses the motion signal threshold.

Abstract:

Arc fault protection for a digital electricity distribution system that provides power to a device. The system includes an arc fault circuit interrupter (“AFCI”) and a controller. The controller is connected to the AFCI. The controller is operable to control the AFCI to disable power to the device. The controller includes a processor and a memory. The controller is configured to transmit a digital electricity energy packet through the AFCI to the device, measure an amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, evaluate the amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, determine whether an arc fault condition is present based on the evaluation of the amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, and control the AFCI to disable power to the device when the arc fault condition is determined to be present.

A battery management platform including a battery configured to supply a type of power to at least one load device, and a central charging station configured to provide power to charge the battery while the battery is coupled to the central charging station. The battery module has an identifier. The central charging station is in communication with the battery module. The central charging station includes an electronic processor configured to: receive the identifier from the battery module, determine if the identifier is stored in a memory of the central charging station, charge the battery module when the battery module is coupled to the central charging station when the identifier is stored in the memory, and generate an alert if the identifier is not stored in memory.
