Abstract:

An integrated, automated system for terminating an optical fiber with an optical connector which includes an apparatus for preparing adhesive for injection into an optical connector, an apparatus for injecting adhesive into an optical connector, an apparatus for inserting a fiber optic cable into an optical connector, and an apparatus for curing an adhesive following insertion of optical fiber into the optical connector. Devices that utilize vibratory or wave energy throughout the assembly process are also provided, as are feedback modules that enhance the accuracy and efficiency of the system.

Abstract:

Core annular flow is used to enable the subcutaneous delivery of a viscous fluid such as a protein therapeutic formulation. The high-viscosity fluid is surrounded by a low-viscosity fluid, and the low-viscosity fluid lubricates the passage of the high-viscosity fluid. This allows the use of protein formulations that have a higher concentration and a higher viscosity at comparatively reduced injection forces and reduced injection times. Several different embodiments of injection devices that provide core annular flow are described herein.

Abstract:

Disclosed is a composition for forming or treating reverse osmosis (RO), forward osmosis (FO), microfiltration (MF), or nanofiltration (NF) membranes, which includes a stable liquid blend of two of the following polymers: an oxygen polymer, a nitrogen polymer, and a sulfur polymer, where each polymer in a blend have matched solubility parameters; provided, that a nitrogen polymer can be in the form of a powder; where the weight ratio of polymers in each blend can range from 1:99 to 99:1; where each polymer optionally can be halogenated; where any polymer can be dispersed in a solvent for forming the blend.
