Abstract:

A method for exchanging information within a radio communications system includes establishing communications between radio systems utilizing a carrier sense multiple access mode during a period of lower traffic load on the radio communications system and establishing communications between the radio systems utilizing a time division multiple access mode during a period of higher traffic load on the radio communications system.

Abstract:

A radio system including a selected number inputs for substantially simultaneously receiving radio signals in different frequency bands and a selected number of conversion paths for converting the radio signals received at corresponding ones of the inputs into a corresponding number of digital streams. Digital processing circuitry substantially simultaneously processes digital samples for plurality of channels, the samples taken from at least one of the digital streams, wherein a maximum number of channels is greater than a maximum number of digital streams provided by the conversion paths.

Abstract:

A single sideband radio system. The system comprises a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter comprises a transmitter baseband processing portion for generating a first baseband signal comprising first, second, and pilot components and modulating the first baseband signal in inverse proportion to the strength of the first component of the first baseband signal and an RF output stage for generating and transmitting a single sideband signal comprising first, second, and pilot portions corresponding to the first, second, and pilot components of the modulated first baseband signal. The receiver comprises an RF input stage for receiving the single sideband signal and a receiver baseband processing portion for generating a second baseband signal comprising first, second, and third components corresponding to the first, second, and third portions of the single sideband signal and for correcting the second baseband signal based on the pilot component of the second baseband signal.

Abstract:

An apparatus for generating an amplified signal from an input signal. The apparatus comprises: (a) a phase-shifting circuit for shifting the phase of a feedback signal derived from the amplified output signal in response to a control signal; (b) a differencing circuit for generating an output signal based on the input signal and the phase-shifted feedback signal; (c) a filter for filtering the output signal; and (d) a power amplifier for amplifying the filtered output signal to obtain the amplified output signal. The apparatus further comprises a CPU and DAC for generating a control signal corresponding to a control signal value associated with a frequency range including the operating frequency from a table associating predetermined control signal values with frequency ranges in the portion of the frequency spectrum in which the amplifier is designed to operate. Phase shift introduced by the filter is thus compensated for by the phase-shifting circuit to maintain negative feedback and thus system stability.
