Abstract:

The present invention provides a method of predicting pregnancy outcome in a subject by determining the amount of an early pregnancy associated molecular isoform of hCG in a sample. The present invention further provides a method for determining the amount of early pregnancy associated molecular isoforms of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in a sample. The invention relates to a process and apparatus for desiccation in which the exterior walls of the apparatus are heated and cooled in synchronization with the interior of the apparatus to avoid temperature gradients and inconsistent desiccation of material placed within the apparatus. Abstract:

An apparatus for recovering pharmaceutical product from blister packs and a method for doing same is provided. Pharmaceutical product blister pack cards, which are unsuitable for sale, are straightened, if necessary, and stacked in a magazine. Individual blister cards are indexed from the magazine stack onto an operations chain conveyor at a loading station by a finger indexing subsystem. The chain conveyor carries the blister card to a cutting station where the back face of the card receives a peripheral cut at the location of each blister pocket and inside the wall of the pocket. The chain conveyor then carries the blister card to a punching station where each product on the card is forced through the back face of the card utilizing moving the respective cut section of the card back, thereby discharging the product into a collection bin. The emptied blister card is moved to a discharge region where it is separated from the chain conveyor. The operation of the entire machine is driven and timed from a single central drive motor.

Abstract:

A combination TIP-OFF cap and container closure and sealing means adapted for operative assembly to a container to seal an access opening therein, thereby to seal the contents of the container. The cap comprises an elongated exterior top portion and an open ended skirt depending therefrom and formed integrally therewith. The skirt has a lower edge removably secured to the container adjacent the access opening. The combination TIP-OFF cap and closure sealing means is conjointly operatively connected to and removable from the container as an integrated unit to provide an access to the contents of the container by application of a lateral tilting force against the elongated cap exterior portion at a position remote from the connection of the cap to the container. The sealing means comprises a resilient material integrated with the cap interior and disposed within the interior of at least the skirt portion and extending into a portion of the elongated exterior top portion of the cap which is sealingly engaged with and about the access opening with the cap operatively mounted on the container.

Abstract:

A tip-off cap and closure for a container, for closure thereof, and sealing of the contents therein. The cap includes a narrow elongated exterior top portion, a peripherally enlarged open bottom skirt at the bottom thereof, and a container closure for an access opening, operatively disposed within the skirt and operatively integrated therewith. The integrated cap and closure are conjointly removable from the container, to open the container for access to the liquid therein, by application of a lateral tilting force against the narrow, elongated cap exterior at a position thereof remote from connection of the cap to the container. Removal of the integrated cap and closure seal means from the container is normally effected without breakage of the material forming the container. The cap and closure act as a unit assembly when being removed. The construction is designed to generally assimilate currently known and used glass ampules for medicaments, in configuration and use, and to have a similar opening procedure thereto.
