Abstract:

A system is configured to process steam. The system includes a steam supply line, a corrugator system, a heat sink, and one or more return lines. The corrugator system includes two corrugating rolls. The corrugating rolls each have a plurality of bores formed therethrough. The bores extend substantially longitudinally through the corrugating rolls. The heat sink is configured to draw steam through the corrugator system. The one or more return lines are in fluid communication with one or both of the corrugator system or the heat sink. The one or more return lines are configured to receive condensate communicated from one or both of the corrugator system or the heat sink. A steam trap assembly may also be positioned between the heat sink and a return line. The steam trap assembly may include a steam trap and a bypass line that is operable to selectively bypass the steam trap.

Abstract:

A punch-type vote recording device for use with a machine-readable non-scored ballot card has a card block mounted in fixed relation to a punch plate and means for biasing the foot of a ballot card against a registration surface on the card block. The arrangement as disclosed eliminates the requirement for high dimensional accuracy in registration pins on the vote recorder and accurately positioned registration apertures in ballot cards. The invention is disclosed in a vote recorder having a slidably received ballot holder comprising a punch plate spaced apart from a guide plate and a card block depending from the guide plate. The punch plate is disclosed as being provided with a series of die openings, each of which has a sharp upturned lip for cooperating with a stylus to shear and cut a precise machine readable hole in the ballot card.

Abstract:

A jet drop printer prints graphic information upon an oscillating printing medium. The printer has a row of jet forming nozzles which produce a row of spaced drop streams. The drops in the streams are selectively charged, deflected and caught, so that uncharged drops produce intelligible graphic information on the printing medium. The spacing between the jets is such that they cannot print contiguous traces upon an ordinary transported printing medium. Contiguous printing is accomplished by lateral oscillation of the printing medium. The oscillation of the printing medium causes each jet to be directed at a plurality of lateral printing positions on a sequential basis, and data representing printing information for the different printing positions is multiplexed into the drop switching system in synchronism with the oscillation of the printing medium. Oscillation of the printing medium may be accomplished by a web transport system including a cylindrical roller and an axially driven oscillator connected thereto. The roller has an internal cavity large in diameter at the midpoint of the roller and relatively small in diameter at the support points of the roller.
