Abstract:

The present invention is a video surveillance, storage, and alerting system having surveillance cameras, video analytics devices, audio sensory devices, other sensory devices, and a plurality of data storage devices. A network management module monitors network status of all subsystems including cameras, servers, storage devices, etc. and shows actively monitored areas on a physical map. A vehicle information module retrieves information from a law enforcement database about vehicles detected in the video data based on the vehicle's license plate, including information about stolen vehicles, as well as warrant, wanted person, and mug shot information for registered drivers of the vehicles. Video tips are received and processed from anonymous and non-anonymous sources. A correlation engine correlates primitive events and compound events from each of the subsystems, weighted by attributes of the events, across both space and time, and an alerting engine generates alerts and performs actions based on the correlation. A hierarchical storage manager manages storage of the vast amounts of data, including video data, based on importance of the data calculated from attributes of the data.

Abstract:

One embodiment is a method of storing video data from a video surveillance system having one or more cameras. Video data is captured from one or more surveillance cameras. Meta-data is automatically generated by performing video analysis on the captured video data from the surveillance cameras. A human operator may manually enter additional meta-data. Attribute data and associated weights, representing information about the relevance of the meta-data, is received. The video data is stored in a hierarchical video storage area; the meta-data, indexed by date and time stamp to the video data, is stored in a meta-data storage area; and the attribute data is stored in an attribute storage area. One or more alerts may be issued based on the past and present meta-data. The video data is secured by encrypting and storing the video data remotely, and audit trails are generated about who and when viewed the video data.

Abstract:

A method and system for intelligent monitoring and intelligent alerting. One or more data inputs are received from one or more systems. A weight is attributed to each data input based on the data input, the source of the data input, and other factors. One or more video inputs are received from one or more video sources. Image analysis is performed on the video data to determine one or more video parameters. The video parameters are assigned one or more weights based on the video source and other factors. A series of rules are evaluated using the data inputs, the video inputs, and their respective weights. An associated action is performed for each rule that is activated. The present invention may be used for various security and safety purposes, including fighting crime, detecting and preventing terrorist activity, and ensuring safety procedures are followed.

Abstract:

An extraction method and apparatus is provided for obtaining quick, safe and highly sensitive testing of any of a variety of body fluids including saliva, blood, urine or other fluids for drugs of abuse or other analytes. The apparatus includes a latchable extraction wand for obtaining body fluid samples from a subject which is adapted to maximize the portion of the body fluid sample that will go into a graduated bottle containing a buffer solution, and a testing device wherein the sample will be received and into which test strips can be inserted to determine levels of drugs of abuse or other analyte in the sample. In one of the methods of the invention, energy is imparted to the sample and buffer solution, such as by shaking, and this facilitates the reduction of sample viscosity, such as by promoting the breakdown of mucins when the sample is saliva.
