Abstract:

A sun protection system for a transportation vehicle has plurality of LCD zones laminated into one or more glazings of the vehicle. An occupant sensor detects an expanse of at least one occupant in the vehicle. A navigation system determines a vehicle location, a date and time value, and a heading. External and internal temperature sensors sense outside and inside temperatures. A controller generates respective drive signals for the respective LCD zones in a manual mode and in an automatic mode. The controller compares a temperature difference between the outside temperature and the inside temperature to a temperature threshold. The respective drive signals provide substantially zero attenuation if the temperature difference is less than the temperature threshold while in the automatic mode.

Abstract:

A wireless network controller supports telephone call between a wireless telephone and a wired telephone. First and second wired communication channels are connected to a telecommunication switch and the wired telephone, respectively. A third wired communication channel is coupled to a radio frequency base station that supports a plurality of concurrent wireless communication channels to wireless telephones. An interface circuit coupled to the first, second, and third channels switches the connection of the first channel associated with the telecommunication switch between the second and third channels, and hence between the wired and wireless telephones. Simultaneous connection to both the wireless and wired telephones is also supported. A conventional line terminating impedance is always presented to the switch regardless of whether one or both of the wireless and wired telephones are off-hook.

Abstract:

A system in a vehicle includes a primary intake manifold, a secondary intake manifold, a valve, and a computer. The primary and secondary intake manifolds are configured for an engine compartment of the vehicle. The secondary intake manifold is arrangeable to extend from outside the engine compartment to the valve. The valve is connected to each of the primary and secondary intake manifolds. The computer is in communication with the valve and programmed to identify a flood risk and then actuate the valve.

Abstract:

A vehicle includes a body structure, a push bar, and a damper connecting the push bar to the body structure. The damper includes a base and a rod that are movable relative to each other. The rod is attached to one of the push bar and the body structure, and the base is attached to the other of the push bar and the body structure. The damper is controllable to adjust a damping ratio of the damper and/or adjust a resting position of the rod relative to the base to axially move the push bar.

A hands-free power closure system for a vehicle includes a a power-operated closure, a proximity sensor system defining a predetermined sensing range, and a remote entry device adapted to store a power-operated closure open command in memory for a predetermined time period. The system further includes a power-operated closure control module in operative communication with the remote entry device, the proximity sensor system, and the power-operated closure. The remote entry device processor is adapted to disable the power-closure open command on expiration of the predetermined time period.
