Abstract:

A golf ball has colored lines emanating from colored visual impact zones of the ball to form a useful alignment tool as well as directional indicators. The visual impact zones are located on opposite ends of the golf ball. The utility of such a colored design on the golf ball aids the golfer in seeing the ball to improve with eye-hand coordination and proper alignment of the golfer's body to the ball in order to produce a better ball striking result.

Abstract:

Disclosed is a temperature regulated vessel, and method for using the same, having a body configured to melt meltable material received therein, and one or more temperature regulating lines within the body configured to flow a liquid therein for regulating a temperature of the meltable material received in the melting portion. The vessel has a poor or low thermally conductive material on one or more of its parts, such as on the melting portion, on exterior surfaces of the body, and/or surrounding the temperature regulating lines to increase melt temperature of the material. The melting portion can also have indentations in its surface, and low thermally conductive material can be provided in the indentations. The vessel can be used to melt amorphous alloys, for example.

Abstract:

Provided is a system and method for metering an amount of molten amorphous alloy into a mold cavity of an injection system. A melting chamber in the system is heated to or above a solidus temperature of the alloy to form a hot chamber. Both the chamber and mold are maintained in an inert atmosphere. The molten alloy is metered from the chamber using a valve system and injected into the mold cavity for molding into a part. A feed tube may extend from the hot chamber to the valve system. The valve system may use gravity or pressure from a pump to meter a volume of molten alloy. In another case, the valve system may include a plunger and a shot sleeve for injecting alloy into the mold. In one embodiment, the plunger itself meters a volume of the alloy. The shot sleeve and plunger may optionally be heated.

A cutting tool comprising a blade portion having a sharpened edge area and a body portion, wherein the body portion comprises a casted metal or a ceramic, wherein the sharpened edge area comprises at least 50% by volume of amorphous alloy material, the amorphous alloy material being limited to the sharpened edge area, and a method of forming the cutting tool having a blade portion having a sharpened edge and a body portion. The body portion is formed from a metal or a ceramic and the sharpened edge includes an amorphous alloy material thereon, is described. The sharpened edge area may have at least 50% by volume of amorphous alloy material. The amorphous alloy may be chromium-based, iron-based, or zirconium-based. A thickness of the amorphous alloy material on the sharpened edge may be between approximately 2 to 5 microns.
