Abstract:

A piston pump with a working fluid region, drive mechanism and a lubricating fluid region. The pump's working fluid region is configured to circulate a working fluid through an external circuit, such as a micro combined heat and power system. The working fluid region is separated from its lubricating fluid region by a seal. By keeping a sufficient quantity of lubricating fluid against the lubricating fluid region side of the seal, leakage of working fluid from the working fluid region to the lubricating fluid region can be significantly reduced. The pump may include various alternative forms of lubricant pumping devices to effect transport and pressurization of the lubricating fluid, including a variable volume pumping cavity, separate oil transfer pump, and mixture between the lubricating fluid and high pressure working fluid. Various piston configurations in the working fluid region may also be used to improve piston sealing.

Abstract:

An internal combustion engine is provided with a biased by-pass throttle valve that trims the flow of supplementary combustion air for mixing with basic combustion air and fuel induced in carburetor venturi. The by-pass throttle valve is controlled by an electrical stepmotor that is regulated by a pre-programmed microprocessor in response to sensed engine speed and engine manifold pressure conditions to thereby improve engine operating efficiency and reduce noxious emissions without utilizing catalytic converter equipment.

Abstract:

A carburetor assembly having a venturi element for fuel metering and a throttle valve for controlling the flow of an air and natural gas mixture to the combustion chamber of an internal combustion gas engine wherein a stepper motor is used to angularly position a throttle valve plate in the gas flow path to the carburetor, the throttle valve plate being carried on a throttle valve shaft that forms an extension of the armature of the stepper motor wherein provision is made for sealing the stepper motor at a location on the axis of rotation of the throttle valve element, the throttle valve shaft being mounted without the necessity for using throttle valve shaft bearings or a separate seal, thereby minimizing friction and any tendency for a misalignment to occur.

A fuel system for a single-cylinder internal combustion gas engine comprising a constant gas pressure governor that is situated in a gas supply line extending to the throat of a venturi carburetor, the gas pressure governor including a diaphragm-operated gas valve that responds to changes in static pressure on the upstream side of the venturi of the carburetor, the governor being adapted to compensate for changes in venturi throat pressure due to the opening and the closing of the intake valve for the single-cylinder engine, whereby the governor tends to maintain a uniform air/fuel ratio throughout a large engine speed range.
