  • Appl. No.:
    10/925335
  • Inventors:
Gregory Myers - San Francisco CA, US
John Marcotullio - Morgan Hill CA, US
Prasanna Mulgaonkar - Saratoga CA, US

  • International Classification:
    G06F015/16
  • US Classification:
    709206000, 713201000
  • Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for analyzing an electronic communication containing imagery, e.g., to determine whether or not the electronic communication is a spam communication. In one embodiment, an inventive method includes detecting one or more regions of imagery in a received electronic communication and applying pre-processing techniques to locate regions (e.g., blocks or lines) of text in the imagery that may be distorted. The method then analyzes the regions of text to determine whether the content of the text indicates that the electronic communication is spam. In one embodiment, specialized extraction and rectification of embedded text followed by optical character recognition processing is applied to the regions of text to extract their content therefrom. In another embodiment, keyword recognition or shape-matching processing is applied to detect the presence or absence of spam-indicative words from the regions of text. In another embodiment, other attributes of extracted text regions, such as size, location, color and complexity are used to build evidence for or against the presence of spam.

    E04H 1700
    E06B 1100
  • US Classification:
    404 6
  • Abstract:
There is disclosed a device and associated method for impeding the motion of a land vehicle travelling along a pathway on a terrain surface. First and second supports are positioned at first and second sides of the pathway, respectively, each capable of being actuated from a compressed condition to an extended condition. A propulsion system is effective to actuate the supports. A barrier extends between the supports at a mean first height that is effective to permit passage of a vehicle when the supports are compressed and supported by each support at a mean second height effective to impede passage of the vehicle when the supports are extended. When the supports are compressed, vehicles pass over the barrier unimpeded. When the supports are extended, the barrier impedes the motion of a vehicle travelling along the pathway. At least one deceleration cable mechanically couples the barrier to a brake system.

    B60W 60/00
  • Abstract:
A hybrid control system includes a control agent and a control engine. The control engine is configured to install a master plan to the control agent. The master plan includes a plurality of high-level tasks. The control agent is configured to operate according to the master plan to, for each high-level task of the high-level tasks, obtain one or more low-level controls and to perform the one or more low-level controls to realize the high-level task. The control agent is configured to operate according to the master plan to transition between the plurality of high-level tasks thereby causing a seamless transition between operating at least partially autonomously and operating at least partially based on input from the tele-operator, based at least on context for the control agent, to operate at least partially autonomously and at least partially based on input from the tele-operator during execution of the master plan.

A system comprises one or more observation stations. Each observation station of the one or more observation stations comprises a corresponding set of one or more sensors. Additionally, the system comprises one or more physical machines that implement a computation engine configured to receive first observation data from the one or more observation stations. The computation engine may use the first observation data to train a machine learning system. The computation engine may subsequently use the trained machine learning system to provide feedback regarding an additional instance of the observation subject. The computation engine outputs the feedback.
