A radiation detection method and apparatus for detection of radiation in a small, portable, relatively inexpensive device. A radiation sensitive memory device and a radiation hardened memory device receive digital data from a digital data generator such as a pseudo-random word generator. The radiation sensitive memory device outputs an exposed digital data stream which, while stored in the radiation sensitive memory device, is susceptible to radiation incident upon the radiation sensitive memory device. The radiation hardened memory device is much less sensitive to radiation than the radiation sensitive memory device such that the test digital data stream output by the radiation hardened memory device is much less effected by radiation than the exposed digital data stream. The exposed digital data stream and the test digital data stream are compared to determine whether the exposed digital data stream was exposed to radiation while stored in the radiation sensitive memory device. Differences between the exposed digital data stream and the test digital data stream are generally indicative of exposure to radiation.
The Invention is a modular, flexible automobile turntable for installation on an uneven surface such as a residential driveway. A flexible track conforms to the surface of the driveway. A turntable deck is mounted for rotation on the track, the deck comprising a central disk driven by a hydraulic gear motor and a plurality of flexible petals extending radially from the center disk.
A weather and fire-resistant roofing or siding article, such as a shingle or panel, having a high thermal insulation value is cut from insulating board comprising fiber, binder and about 50 to 90% by weight expanded perlite. The article has adjacent butt and nailing sections, the butt section being substantially uniformly the maximum thickness of the article and having a water- and weather-resistant coating composition on the outer surface to be exposed to the weather, and the nailing section having a non-tapered outer surface and an inner surface tapered from the maximum thickness at the junction of the two sections to a minimum thickness at the edge of the article. The outer surface of the butt section may be machined or pressed or embossed to provide a decorative surface simulating a wood shake, and coated with a sun- and moisture-proof coating such as asphalt and roofing granules.
A fiber optic switch and attenuator (10) has a sealed capsule (12). The sealed capsule (12) contains a first fluid (14), having a first index of refraction and having a first density. The sealed capsule (12) contains a second fluid (16), having a second index of refraction, the second index of refraction being greater than the first index of refraction. The second fluid (16) has a second density that is not equal to the first density. A bobbin (18) is contained in the sealed capsule (12). A fiber optic core (20) is wrapped around the bobbin (18). The fiber optic core (20) has a core index of refraction. The core index of refraction is less than the second index of refraction and greater than the first index of refraction. The fiber optic core (20) has a first end (22) and a second end (24) outside the sealed capsule (12).

Abstract:
Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for active threat tracking and response. One of the methods includes determining, using sensor data generated by one or more sensors located at one or more properties, that an active threat is in progress at the one or more properties; accessing a virtual model i) of the one or more properties ii) that includes a position of each of the one or more sensors; determining, using the sensor data and the virtual model and for each of two or more areas of the one or more properties, a threat level of the active threat at the respective area; and performing, using the threat level of the active threat at each of the two or more areas of the one or more properties, one or more monitoring system actions.
