Abstract:

A method for providing optical alignment for a visible wavelength reflective system is provided. The method includes positioning a first mirror blank on a lathe fixture. The first mirror blank comprises a single precision pinhole. The first mirror blank is secured to the lathe fixture. A first mirror is generated from the first mirror blank.

Abstract:

A mirror includes: a substrate having a surface; and a thin-film finish layer provided over the surface of the substrate and having on a side thereof opposite from the substrate a surface with a polished finish. According to a different aspect of the invention, a method of making a mirror includes: providing a substrate having a surface thereon; forming a thin-film finish layer over the surface of the substrate using thin-film techniques, the finish layer having a surface on a side thereof opposite from the substrate; and polishing the surface of the finish layer.

Low density minors for optical assemblies and methods of manufacture thereof. In one example, a reflective mirror is formed of a magnesium or magnesium alloy substrate that is single point diamond turned to provide a reflective surface. The magnesium or magnesium alloy substrate is compatible with thin-film finishing processes and/or magnetorheological finishing which may be applied to improve a surface finish of the mirror.

Abstract:

A golf putting device which provides immediate feedback on eye positioning relative to the golf ball. The system is completely passive and does not interfere with the golfers putter, hand position or natural set-up. Two small plano mirror are mounted perpendicular to one another on an L-shaped base. The first mirror is mounted on a fixed inclined base, faces the golfer, and ensures forward-backward eye positioning. The second mirror is mounted on an adjustable tilt base, is to the right of the golfer, and ensures inside-outside eye positioning. The collimated reflection plane of each plano mirror intersects directly above the golf ball. A pivoting arm positions the golf ball directly below the reflection intersection plane. A guide rail is provided to ensure the stroke remains along the intended line.

Abstract:

The Venetian blind which has a headrail, a series of slats and an extruded bottom rail includes a longitudinal resilient bumper positioned in a bottom longitudinal slat of the bottom rail and extending from the bottom of the rail. Resilient end caps having the same transverse contour as the bumper close the rail ends and together with the bumper, seal the bottom rail from light transmission between it and a window sill and a window vertical edge. An extruded aluminum or plastic headrail with resilient end pieces has spaced tangs extending from a tilt and left mechanism-supporting horizontal bottom wall forming an inverted U-shaped open compartment. This compartment receives the top portion of the uppermost blind slat in a slats tilted closed position to block out light transmission and sight lines under the headrail. A resilient flipper seal obstructs light at the top of the headrail. The bottom rail may also include a storage volume for replacement slats.
