Abstract:

A sanding apparatus includes a flexible base member which includes a base member bottom side and a base member top side. A quantity of abrasive material, e. g. a sheet of sandpaper, is adhesively attached to the base member bottom side. A flexible handle is positioned above the base member top side. Attachment means are provided for attaching the flexible base member to the flexible handle. Rod reception brackets are attached to the base member top side, and one or more flexibility adjustment rods are received in the rod reception brackets. The rod reception brackets include bracket rod reception channels which receive the flexibility adjustment rods. The flexible handle includes handle rod reception channels which are in registration with the bracket rod reception channels. Rod reception tubes are received in the bracket rod reception channels and the handle rod reception channels. The bracket rod reception channels are positioned adjacent to the base member top side such that the rod reception tubes are flush with the base member top side when the rod reception tubes are installed in the bracket rod reception channels.

Abstract:

A product stacking apparatus and method employs one or more stations, each including a stationary stacking platform or a conveyor upon which spaced-apart pucks are coupled for travel thereon. A product delivery apparatus drives one or more movable webs to which segmented product sheets are removably affixed. The product delivery apparatus includes one or more rotatable lamination interfaces associated with each of the stations for transferring product sheets from the webs to the pucks on a repetitive basis to produce a stack of product sheets on the respective pucks. Each of the segmented product sheets may define all or a portion of an electrochemical cell, all or a portion of a pad including layers of film or sheet material, wherein a portion of each of the layers is provided with a bonding feature, or all or a portion of a pack comprising layers of medical dressing. A puck need not be in motion during the transfer of the product sheet from the lamination roll to the puck. The puck may or may not be attached to a conveyor, but the conveyor need not be in motion during the lamination or stack building process.

Abstract:

An apparatus and method provides for rotatably cutting and/or laminating layered structures or sheet material supported by webs. A rotary converting apparatus and method of the present invention converts a web comprising a cathode layered structure and a web comprising an anode layered structure into a series of layered electrochemical cell structures supported by a release liner. Employment of a rotary converting process of the present invention provides, among other benefits, for the creation of a product having a finished size, without need for downstream or subsequent cutting.

Abstract:

A novel method for refurbishing a rubber disc used in a recycle machine comprises the steps of cleaning and sanding the surface of the disc; priming at least the surface of the disc with a liquid primer or interfacing agent (adhesive); placing the disc in a portion of a mold; charging or filling the mold with a polymer (synthetic rubber or elastomer) mixed with a suitable catalyst, hardener or activator; allowing the synthetic rubber polymer to exothermally cure inside the mold; and withdrawing the disc from the mold. The resulting refurbished disc is characterized by a new outer surface layer (synthetic rubber) adhered to the original rubber disc. In an alternatively preferred method, one or more relatively small holes are formed in the surface of the disc prior to molding the new outer surface layer on the disc whereupon the strength of the bond between the new outer layer and the original disc is enhanced.
