Abstract:

A mirror file systems (MFS) is a virtual file system that links two or more file systems together and mirrors between them in real time. The file systems linked and mirrored through the mirror file system can be a local file system connected to a physical device, or a network file system exported by a remote system on a network. The mirroring mechanism is established by linking a file system to another file system on a single directory through an MFS mounting protocol. User applications perform normal file system operation and file/directory operation system calls like open, read, write and close functions from the pathname of either file system. When updates occur, such as a write operation, the MFS mechanism ensures that all data updates go to both the file systems in real time.

Abstract:

A mirror file system (MFS) is a virtual file system that links two or more folders (e.g., on Windows) or directories (e.g., on UNIX) to form a mirroring pair. The folders or directories can reside on a local memory device of a computing system, on a portable memory device, or in a folder or directory shared by a remote system. A graphical user interface (GUI) or user application creates or opens a file in the Active folder, and the MFS software module creates or opens the same file in a Passive folder which is not mounted on the same mount point as the Active folder. The Active folder receives a file operation from the application of the computer directly. Once the file operation is received by the Active folder, it is automatically replicated to the Passive folder. The MFS software module provides update options of sequential, parallel synchronous and asynchronous.

Abstract:

A memory management technique is provided for managing the storage and retrieval of data within an ARAM memory array such that both fault tolerant data and fault non-tolerant data can be stored within the ARAM array without such data becoming corrupted due to the faulty bits within the ARAM memory. The memory management technique of the present invention also includes a method for creating a novel facsimile header format which makes it less likely for the header information to be corrupted due to faulty memory cells within the ARAM memory array.

Abstract:

The present invention relates to an elongated main branch of a baton having a longitudinal axis and a cross branch normal to the main branch, the cross branch being located near one end of the main branch. The cross branch also has a longitudinal axis that is coplanar to the axis of the main branch. Construction is as follows: the main branch and the cross handle usually are of an unitary construction in which a major length of the main branch (and the cross handle) are of a solid, one-piece construction but wherein at least a minority of the length of the main branch is provided with a cavity means. The cavity means of the invention can take the following form: For example, in one aspect of the invention there is at least a first portion of the cavity means that is located at the one end of the main branch adjacent to the cross branch, into which is fitted with an elongatable strap in the form of a chain or rope of constant weight per length. An end of the strap is next attached to a detachable, weighted end cap that forms an end wall of the first portion of the cavity means when the end cap is attached to the main branch of the baton. The strap and weighted end cap thus can define both active and inactive states relative to the cavity means wherein in the inactive state, the strap is completely stowed within the first portion of the cavity means and the end cap is attached at one end of the cavity means.

Abstract:

This bed comprises a front forwardly extending foot section having rearwardly extending side arms. Said side arms have similar, symmetrically disposed, horizontal offset portions raised above the horizontal plane of the bed mattress supporting fabric of the bed platform when the bed is in open sleeping position. In the closed position of the bed, the foot section projects rearwardly and said offset portions are then disposed below the horizontal plane of the mattress supporting fabric and hence in a depressed plane. The fabric is connected to each of a pair of zig-zag springs disposed alongside said depressed portions (in the closed position of the bed), at points disposed inwardly of the ends of the zig-zag springs, and also by a pair of helical tension springs to the side arms, at locations beyond the outer ends of said depressed portions. With such construction, persons sitting at the ends of the sofa (when the bed is closed) have a softer, more comfortable seat, because of the depressed side portions of the foot section and because of less tension on the fabric, and also more relaxing, softer seating between the ends of the sofa, because of use of less helicals to connect the fabric to the bed frame at the sides of said foot section. The ends of the zig-zag springs are furthermore received in the end helical springs on each side of the foot section to house and encase said ends.

Abstract:

A plug-in game cartridge, having a read-only-memory (ROM) that stores software of the game, also includes a security circuit that generates a signal which causes a host videographics console unit to accept it as authorized. The security circuit produces a replica of a reset signal that exists in the console unit and uses that replica to control the timing of pulses that form the authorizing signal. The cartridge with the security circuit can be used with a Nintendo brand videographics unit.
