Abstract:

Aerosol and hydrosol particle detection systems without knowledge of a location and velocity of a particle passing through a volume of space, are less efficient than if knowledge of the particle location is known. An embodiment of a particle position detection system capable of determining an exact location of a particle in a fluid stream is discussed. The detection system may employ a patterned illuminating beam, such that once a particle passes through the patterned illuminating beam, a light scattering is produced. The light scattering defines a temporal profile that contains measurement information indicative of an exact particle location. However, knowledge of the exact particle location has several advantages. These advantages include correction of systematic particle measurement errors due to variability of the particle position within the sample volume, targeting of particles based on position, capture of particles based on position, reduced system energy consumption and reduced system complexity.

The invention provides, in some aspects, a digital commerce system that includes a first digital data device, a second digital data device and a third digital data device, each of which is connected to a network that provides at least intermittent communications coupling between the second digital data device and each of the first and second digital data devices. Redirection logic executing on at least the second digital data device effects storage on the third digital data device of a digital media object downloaded from the first digital data device to the second digital data device. The redirection logic accomplishes that in such a manner that storage of the digital media object on the third digital data device is effected before storage of that digital media object on the second digital data device—if the digital media object is stored to the second digital data device at all. In related aspects of the invention, redirection logic executing on at least the second digital data device circumvents storage of the downloaded digital media object at least until that object has been stored on the third digital data device.

Abstract:

A logistics tower includes a vertical storage cell column, a vertical retrieval system and a horizontal shuttle system. The vertical storage cell column includes an elevator shaft extending therethrough and a plurality of storage modules arranged around the elevator shaft. The vertical retrieval system includes a winch and a robotic bin handier. The robotic bin handler is moveably by the winch within the elevator shaft of the vertical storage cell column. The robotic bin handler includes a carnage assembly that extends inwardly and outwardly therefrom to access and retrieve storage bins from the storage modules arranged around the elevator shaft. The carriage assembly includes a gripping assembly that selectively couples and decouples the storage bin to the carriage of the robotic bin handler. The vertical retrieval system lowers the storage bin coupled to the carriage assembly to a. robotic shuttle situated on the horizontal shuttle system.
