Abstract:

Improved automatic gain control for an amplifier is obtained by controlling the size of a null zone in a drive signal for the amplifier. The size of the null zone is controlled by estimating strength of an interference signal, and dynamically varying the size of the null zone based on the estimated strength of the interference signal. As a result, the amplifier rarely saturates, regardless of signal strength. The invention is useful to reduce the harmful effects of jamming or interference.

Abstract:

A system bus architecture for intermodular communications is disclosed. The system bus architecture comprises a backplane bus with associated memory and a plurality of control registers. A master system processor module is coupled to the backplane bus via a master bus controller. The master system processor module contains a central processing unit in selective communication the master bus controller. A plurality of slave modules are also coupled to the backplane bus via respective slave bus controllers. Each of the slave modules has a slave central processing unit in selective communication the slave bus controller. The master and slave bus controllers are in selective communication with the bus memory, the plurality of control registers, and the respective central processing units, to transmit and receive data through the backplane bus.

A sensor network for pregnancy monitoring of a subject includes a plurality of sensor systems time-synchronized to each other, each sensor system placed on a respective region of the subject and having a sensor member configured to detect data associated with at least one of physiological parameters of the subject, and a Bluetooth low energy system-on-a-chip configured to process and transmit the detected data; and a controller adapted in wireless communication with the plurality of sensor systems and configured to receive, from the plurality of sensor systems, to process, and to display the physiological parameters.

Abstract:

Provided are apparatuses and methods for non-invasively and continuously measuring physiological parameters of a mammal subject. The apparatus includes multiple sensor systems attached to the mammal subject, and a microcontroller unit (MCU). The sensor systems are time-synchronized and communicate with each other wirelessly and bidirectionally. Each of the sensor systems includes at least one sensor configured to detect a vital sign of the mammal subject and generate a corresponding one of the physiological parameters. The MCU is in wireless communication with the plurality of sensor systems. In operation, the MCU receives, from the sensor systems, and displays the physiological parameters of the mammal subject. The apparatus and method can be used in applications such as developing therapeutics or vaccines for a disease, or diagnosing a disease.

Abstract:

A system and method to estimate and to limit usage time of network applications by a centrally located router is provided. The router first modifies the Domain Name System (DNS) protocol's Time To Live (TTL) values to a fix value, then it counts the number of DNS queries for an application. Number of queries multiplied by the fixed TTL value gives estimated duration of the application.
