A medical device in which a melt processed part has different crystallized properties at different locations. The part is formed of a polymer composition by inclusion a of polymer crystallization modifier in the composition making up at least a portion of such part, the amount of the polymer crystallization modifier is varied at different locations on the part in accordance with the desired difference in crystallization behavior.

Abstract:

A coextrusion employing a tie layer between two layers of different polymer materials. The tie layer is formed in the extrusion melt of a composition comprising one of the two polymer materials and a coupling agent that includes functional groups that are reactive at least with functional groups on the second polymer. The coupling agent may be incorporated into the tie layer material in amounts above 5% by weight.

Abstract:

A balloon catheter visualization system for repairing a heart valve in a patent includes one or more elongate shafts, each shaft defining at least one lumen and comprising a distal end portion and a proximal end portion. The system also includes a transparent balloon member coupled to the one or more elongate shafts and is in fluid communication with at least one lumen of the one or more elongate shafts. The system also includes an imaging element disposed within the balloon member and coupled to a distal end portion of the one or more elongate shafts, a fastener releasably coupled to a distal end portion of the one or more elongate shafts, and a connector coupled to a distal end portion of the one or more elongate shafts. The connector is adapted to fasten the fastener to tissue.
