Abstract:
A conveyor system and method of measuring chain wear includes first and second sensing devices positioned at a conveyor line or path and directed toward a conveyor chain that is movable along the conveyor path. The first sensing device senses the presence of a first chain portion of the conveyor chain at a predetermined location as the conveyor chain moves along the conveyor line. The second sensing device senses a second chain portion of the conveyor chain as the conveyor chain moves along the conveyor line. The second sensing device is operable to sense a location of or distance to the second chain portion or may capture an image of the second portion. A controller is operable to determine a degree of wear of a section of chain extending between the first and second chain portions in response to the second sensing device.
A floor finish applicator comprises a frame mounted on wheels for movement in any selected direction, a liquid finish storage tank mounted on the frame, a finish applying mechanism adapted to deliver finish from the outlet of the storage tank to the floor, and a finish spreader adapted to spread the finish out into a smooth even finish after it has been applied to the floor. The finish spreader is mounted behind the frame and is movable in a transverse direction with respect to the direction of movement of the frame. The finish spreader is resiliently biased to remain in a predetermined position but is mechanically movable in either transverse direction. A roller is provided at one or both ends of the spreader in order to provide a rolling contact between the finish spreader and the wall of a room being finished. The applicator may be used to apply any type of liquid to a floor, including waxes, varnishes, cleaners or the like.

Abstract:
A portable floor finish applicator includes a pressurized liquid finish storage tank carried by a shoulder harness on the operator's back and a hand carried floor finish applicator comprising a hollow elongated handle and an applicator head mounted on the lower end of the handle. The applicator includes a liquid finish outlet tube for dispensing liquid finish uniformly over the surface of an applicator frame and wick applicator mounted on the underside of the applicator frame. Finish is applied through the wick by contact of the soaked wick with the floor. For water emulsion finishes, the wick applicator can be formed of a natural or synthetic lambs wool or it can be a flexible absorbent fibrous yarn material attached to a mesh backing material that permits liquid finish to flow readily through the backing. A flexible conduit conveys liquid finish from the outlet of the storage tank through a manually operable flow control valve at the upper end of the handle and then downwardly at least partially through the handle to the liquid finish outlet tube.
