Abstract:

Protective eyewear for blocking laser light from entering the eyes of the wearer. The eyewear having a light absorbing filter and an adjacent light-reflecting filter such that laser light will first be reflected by the reflecting layer and then absorbed by the absorbing layer. If the light-reflecting filter is damaged or scratched the light not reflected would be absorbed by the light-absorbing filter. Similarly if the angle of incidence is such that the light-reflecting filter does not reflect the incident light the light-absorbing filter will absorb the light. The light-reflecting filter reflects a majority of the incident light on the protective eyewear and thus protects the light-absorbing filter from reaching its damage threshold. The combination of light absorbing and light reflecting filters provides better protection against light penetration of a specified wavelength than either type of filter working along.

Abstract:

A bipolar electrosurgical device for coagulating and cutting tissue has an elongated tubular member from which a bipolar tissue cutting forceps and cutting instrument extends at the distal end. The cutting instrument is connected to a moveable rod extending through the lumen of the tubular member. A first and second conductor pair extend in spaced apart parallel arrangement to allow the cutting instrument and its moveable rod to extend therebetween. The first and second conductor pairs are operatively connected to the forceps jaws. A moveable guide member is disposed within the lumen of the elongated tubular member and has means for selectively engaging the first and second conductor pairs for closing and opening jaws of the forceps. The forceps jaws have a slot for receiving the cutting instrument therebetween. A handle member is fixed to the proximal end of the first tubular member.

Systems and processes are disclosed for providing bill splitting processes for splitting a bill amount among a set of purchasers. In one example, the disclosed embodiments may receive receipt information reflecting a bill to be split among a group of purchasers. The disclosed embodiments may parse the receipt information to extract one or more items or services having monetary value and generate a list of the items or services included in the receipt. The disclosed embodiments may also identify the group of purchasers that will participate in paying a proportion of the bill associated with the receipt. Further, disclosed embodiments may be configured to determine a proportion of payment of the total amount of the bill for each purchaser in the group of purchasers. In addition, the disclosed embodiments may be configured to provide mechanisms that enable at least one purchaser to provide payment for the at least one purchaser's payment amount for the bill, such as providing interfaces that allow the user to pay electronically using e-commerce payment systems or financial service products.

Systems and processes are disclosed for assisting and incentivizing a user to save money by avoiding impulsive purchases. In certain embodiments, disclosed embodiments may include mechanisms to receive a user-defined goal for saving money and to receive item identifying information relating to an item not purchased by the user in accomplishing the goal. The disclosed embodiments also include mechanisms that determine the price of the item based on the identifying information and determine the amount of savings based on the price of the item.
