Abstract:

A tool for undersea oil recovery operations having a framework to carry instruments to the sea bottom to determine the angle of inclination of a ring girder secured to a monopile driven into the sea bottom. The same tool, with minor modifications, is used to transport a wedge-shaped leveling wafer to the bottom after the wafer has been fabricated to correct the previously determined inclinations.

Abstract:

A subsea wellhead connection assembly for establishing fluid communication and production capability between a subsea wellhead and an adjacent subsea manifold system. The assembly includes conduit means for fluidly connecting the wellhead and the manifold system, the conduit means having one end extending substantially horizontally and the other end situated below the horizontal end; wellhead connector means fluidly connected to the lower end of the conduit means for releasably connecting the conduit means to the wellhead upon downward movement of the assembly to establish fluid communication therebetween; manifold system connector means fluidly connected to the horizontal end of the conduit means for releasably connecting the conduit means to the manifold system upon lateral movement of the manifold system connector means to establish fluid communication therebetween; and a guide frame rigidly secured to the wellhead connector means for supporting the manifold system connector means and the conduit means, and for vertically aligning the wellhead connector means over the wellhead and horizontally aligning the manifold system connector means with the manifold system. A method of establishing fluid communication and production capability between a marine floor wellhead and an adjacent subsea manifold system employing the aforecited wellhead connection assembly components is also disclosed.

Abstract:

A subsea well completion system, and components of such a system, are disclosed for handling marine well fluids from multiple subsea wells. The system includes a fluid-tight work enclosure hull containing manifold means, the hull having a plurality of radially-disposed lateral penetration means extending therethrough, the penetration means being operatively connected to the manifold means; and a base template having means for securing the template to the marine floor in a substantially horizontal position and having a lower support structure for supporting the work enclosure hull, the template further having an upper guidance structure comprising a plurality of substantially vertical guide members mounted in spaced radial array, each guide member extending inwardly toward the center of the template, forming an opening at the central portion of the template for receiving the work enclosure hull, a portion of the upper peripheral surface of each guide member sloping downwardly toward the opening for guiding the hull as it is lowered during installation of the hull onto the template. A method of establishing production capability from multiple subsea wellheads on a base template secured to the marine floor is also disclosed employing the aforecited system components.

A leveling wafer for a subsea hydrocarbon production platform having two wedge portions which can be rotated in relation to each other to vary the degree of taper. The wafer supports a machinery supporting template having a wedge shaped key projecting downwardly therefrom to engage an opening in the top of the wafer to ensure rotational (azimuth) orientation of the template.
